Full description
Spend a day visiting the municipality of Guatapé, the city of many names: known variously as the interior sea of Antioquia, the Acapulco of Colombia, the interior Cartagena, Paraíso Paisa (paradise country), Remanso de Paz (haven of peace) and the heart of Antioquia's East, the city was actually named in honor of Cacique Guatapé, an inhabitant of this territory in the pre-Hispanic period. Spend a day visiting this growing and colorful city, made unique by the decorative tiles adorning the lower facade of the houses. The highlight of your trip will be a visit to the Rock of Guatapé (Piedra del Peñol), a monolithic rock 220 meters high, which was worshiped by the former indigenous inhabitants of the region. Composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, the rock was climbed for the first time on July 16, 1954 by an inhabitant of the area, Luis Eduardo Villegas López - and the stone still belongs to the Villegas family. You can now access its summit by climbing 740 steps built into the monolith. For the third part of the day, enjoy a 1-hour boat tour through the reservoir with crossover music. See panoramic views of Casa Museo, La Cruz, Piedras del Marial, Piedra del Peñol and the ruins of the Pablo Escobar's vacation home. Throughout the whole day, you'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide.

It was a good experience, having a relaxing tour in boat right before climbing the rock for me it's a good idea. After you climb the rock and you are starving you can have a really good meal to regain your energy and visit Guatape. The guide is exceptional, really professional. I recommend this to everyone.

Great, all-day tour! I was a bit nervous about booking this because it seemed so long, but the day went by quickly. Our guide was on-time and we set off for the day with a group of about 6 others. I was glad that the van wasn't overly packed due to covid. All of the stops were really pretty and scenic. The town in El Penol was cool to see and had great views, climbing the rock was fun and the city of Guatape was so beautiful. Overall, the food was fine, but lunch was definitely better than breakfast. The only thing I would change was I wish we'd went to Guatape earlier instead of as the last stop. It was so cool there, but I was exhausted by then and didn't really have energy to walk around or shop. It was great though!

Had the best time in Guatape. My tour guide is very knowledgeable.Jessica sanches was able to translate for me in English all The things she tells to other Spanish speaking people in the group. We used bus going to the place. Very spacious and comfortable. Food was also great. Would recommend this to my friends
