Full description
Be introduced to the Church of San Giovanni, the old Church of the Templars in Lucca that hides the splendid Roman Spa, which can be visited. In the middle of the church, a platform with grand piano, surrounded by panels portraying pictures of Giacomo Puccini taken at different periods of his life, is placed for the singers to perform. 2 professional singers (usually a soprano and tenor) accompanied by a pianist will perform the program of music. Every evening the festival sports varied professional performers and program. The same concert is performed only once in 365 days.  On Monday, the theme is Mozart and Puccini, with arias, duets, and intermezzos from the masterworks of the two great opera composers.  On Tuesday, the theme is Puccini's Women, with arias, duets, and intermezzos from the operas of Giacomo Puccini dedicated to women.  On Wednesday, the theme is Italian Opera Recital, with arias, duets, and intermezzos from operas by Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, Rossini, Donizetti, and others.  On Thursday, the theme is Puccini and Verdi, with arias, duets, and intermezzos from the masterworks of the two great opera composers.  On Friday, the theme is Puccini Opera Gala, with arias and duets from the masterworks of the maestro.  On Saturday, the theme is A Night at the Opera, with pieces from the opera repertoire from Handel to Puccini including all the major opera composers.  On Sunday, the theme is Puccini and the traditional Neapolitan songs, with arias from Puccini's operas and the Neapolitan melodies composed when Puccini was alive.

Puccini concerts are a must in Lucca

If you visit Lucca and have some music sensitivity, even without being an opera expert, go to these Puccini Concerts. I went with my husband and both loved it. It is only one hour and is beautiful and fun music. The places are always packed so its better to book in advance. The musical is popular operas, the singers are very high quality and the time is just before going to dinner. It was a great way to finish our day. Dont miss it.

Amazing. Music and venue were spectacular. Beautiful. Not too long. Perfect. The only thing I would suggest is better signage or directions. It was a small chapel and hard to see the signs at night.
