It is great to have the App to be able to book something on the spot or like the day before. However , we did not get accurate info about the tour. Our pick up time was earlier than we were told. It would have been nice to know that we could also bring our own snacks and food as opposed to buying at preset and planned restaurants. We only saw our guide in the beginning and at the end of the hike. We thought the guide would provide us with info about the area and guide us along. There were too many different levels of hikers, I guess to make that possible. It would have been nice to have the same level of hikers in a group with a guide who would share his or expertise on the gorge and area. Basically we paid for a ride to the park

We were at our assigned pickup point at 6.10am to find out our tour company had gone out of business the day before!!! I checked my phone for a late email with a new departure time/bus from the same spot and all ok. Take some snacks or have quick breakfast at the kiosk at the top. Don’t do the hike if you have any knee problems, I learnt that the hard way. Everything else went as planned. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, made everyone feel comfortable about meeting spots, WCs and water filling at different spots along the way. Stunning scenery the first half in descent, but the last half was almost completely through the gorge which was a lot of rock hopping, crossings on handmade bridges, was fun for a while, but long! Still, amazing vertical and overhanging cliffs, donkeys coming up the trail, and the beauty of the gorge made it worthwhile. There’s a kiosk just at the end and about 1.5km further a minibus €2/pp to take you to the port for the ferry back. Amazing experience.

This excursion was perfect and well organized, but you have to be very prepared to walk 16km. on the stones up and down, it was more difficult that I imagine but it worth, it was one of the most beautiful place of nature I ever saw, the gorge is really fantastic and if you are in a good shape I definitely recommend to visit Samaria Gorge. During your walk you find some places to seat and get rest, to drink a very clean mountain water and it helps a lot. Thanks
