Full description
On this 7-hour excursion, you’ll visit the beautiful village of Kuranda, nestled in pristine World Heritage-listed rainforest. You will be picked up from your hotel (in the Cairns city area) in a modern and comfortable coach and travel to the train station. Climb aboard the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway and take in views of the surrounding mountains along the way to Kuranda. Rising from sea level to 328 meters, the journey to Kuranda passes spectacular waterfalls and then takes you into the stunning Barron Gorge. Enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to explore the markets, shops and walking trails or take a river cruise (seasonal). Discover the amazing array of food stalls and cafés or dine with the resident water dragons at Frog’s Restaurant, famous for their freshly made sauces and dressings. Take the famous Skyrail down, spanning 7.5 kilometers over the pristine rainforest canopy. This is also an opportunity to spot native wildlife, including the cassowary (the world's 3rd-largest flightless bird)! After that, you will take the 2:00 PM Skyrail back down to the bottom (Skyrail Smithfield station). Embark on a fascinating journey of discovery over and deep into the world’s oldest, continually-surviving tropical rainforest. The iconic Skyrail experience is a must do Cairns attraction that provides a truly unique perspective of Australia’s World Heritage listed tropical rainforest - immersing guests in the sights, sounds, smells and tranquility of one of the most botanically fascinating areas on earth. At the end of your Skyrail experience, you will be picked up again by bus at 3:30 PM then brought back to the hotel.

This was probably the most touristy thing we did while in Cairns/Port Douglas. Everything was extremely organised and explained clearly to us. Jun was extremely friendly. We loved his commentary on Cairns and the Great Diving Range as we drove through Cairns to pick everyone else up at their hotels.

This was a wonderful day out. We where picked up on time by Wayne. He was so friendly and gave us an informative talk on the way. The train ride up and cable car back was really great. Make sure you get of at the stations x2 on the cable car. Very short stroll to a fantastic look out. We went on a Sunday and most shops where open with lovely food and wares at great prices. Then Wayne bought us back to the hotel. Wonderful day out.

so worth doing this trip. We chose the tour of being picked up from the hotel and going by train first and returning by sky rail. We really enjoyed the old train and the driver was very informative. Be ready to take plenty of photos. We went around Kuranda by ourselves plenty of things to see and great options for food. Only complaint was we were told to be on the sky rail at 1.45pm so there are 2 stops on the sky rail coming down that we didn’t stop at as we assumed that we would miss our transfer back to the hotel. We were at the bottom for at least 45 minutes and that was upsetting as we could have got of and had a look around but all in all it’s so beautiful and I would love to see it again
