The Berlin Wall and Cold War tour delves deep into the darker side of Berlin‘s history. These tours go out further to reach extraordinarily impressive sites otherwise left out on bus, walking, and boat tours. Cover about 14 km (8 miles) in about 5 hours and stop every few hundred meters to soak in the sites.
Head away from the Mitte district and the pedestrian Cold War sites to take in more of the former East, more of the Wall, and more of what makes Berlin the unique city it is today. You will travel east along the imposing Karl-Marx-Allee before taking in the powerful Treptower Park Memorial.
Return through the former no-man’s-land deathstrip to visit former checkpoints and hear tales of espionage and escape attempts. Break for lunch at a nice café in the remains of an old train station split off from its tracks by the Wall; even this tour's lunch break highlights the contrasts between East and West that you will explore on the tour.
