Full description
Travel back in time on an informative and fun tour of the Acropolis of Athens. Be guided by a field expert and licensed archaeologist. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage site through a journey into history, mythology, and storytelling. Continue with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, which has been ranked as one of the top museums in the world. All the original surviving masterpieces from the temples of the Acropolis are displayed with the use of natural light. Excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. The museum was designed by the renowned Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and the notable Greek architect Michalis Photiadis. Visit the Acropolis hill. See the Dionysus Theater, where famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. Walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius. On the top of the hill, visit the Propylea Temple of Nike and the Erechtheion Temple. See the Parthenon, which is the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to 5th century, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles. At the Acropolis Museum, explore the ground floor where exhibited artifacts reveal facets of the Athenian daily life. Get to know wedding customs, children's favorite toys, healing techniques, and religious practices. On the first floor, stand at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century, which once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated as you walk next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance. On the final floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, admire the original unique in concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

The tour was better than we expected as we had plenty of time to speak with the guide (Alexia Kolia) and ask her many questions that she was more than happy to answer. Our tour became a private one (only my partner and I) as there were no other people who booked it on that day. Alexia even offered us many great recommendations for restaurants, bars and places to visit in and around Athens when we told her it was our first time in Greece.

I loved this Tour through the Acropolis and its museum. Our guide, Alexia, explained in detail every detail and place of importance. He was very kind and attentive with any questions. He made the tour very enjoyable and also gave us many useful tips on places to see in Athens, as well as places to eat and try. Without a doubt, I would recommend this Tour to anyone else.

The tour of the Acropolis with tour guide Helena was very informative and enjoyable. We were provided an in depth history of Athens and our questions were answered. The rain and strong winds did not hinder her service. We were provided with ponchos. Overall I highly recommend this tour and its guide. -Antonio & Amarilis-
