Sorrento: Hands-on Cooking Class

We were picked up at our hotel by Luigi who took us to his restaurant in the hills of Sorrento. There we were greeted by his business partner Laura who was to be our teacher for the class. We were given a glass of processco on arrival. There were 3 in our group and an other party of 2. We were shown how to cook aubergine parmigiana, caprese salad, ravioli and a cake. We had such fun, wine whilst cooking, limocello after lunch. Good instruction. You eat what you cook afterwards. We spent just over 3 hours with Laura and Luigi. We left having learned how to cook homemade ravioli. We had a great time.

We really enjoyed this cooking class! We learnt how to make a caprese salad, a dish with aubergines, ravioli and a tiramisu which was already made and given to us at the end. Although I wish we received the recipes on a sheet of paper so we could remember at home and a lot of the ingredients were pre-prepared like the tomato sauce and aubergines (which I understand as this takes time.) The host and her husband are very friendly and supply you with endless bottles of wine. We were very lucky as our group contained really lovely people and I think that is what makes it.

Our best family experience on our vacation to Italy. We had our 4 kids with us (5-14) and they all were able to fully participate and make their own dishes. We also had a great time getting to know a great couple from the UK because the environment is very open and social (and plenty of Vino!!!). I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sorrento, whether you are a couple or a family. The experience itself would have been worth it, but we also learned a lot and hope to be impressing our friends and family soon with fresh made pasta dishes!!!
