Full description

Come to Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum (listed by UNESCO as a Natural and Cultural Heritage site) using your own means of transport. Enjoy having tickets for a guided tour already with you and walk to the entrance. Meet your authorised, live guide on-site and follow them into Auschwitz I where you will have a chance to walk on the ground of the former camp, built in 1940 in the suburbs of Oswiecim. Use a headset provided to let you hear the guide's words no matter the distance or group size. Discover the lives of people who were kept in this place while seeing exhibitions presented in the barracks where they used to live. The total number of deaths is estimated at over 1.5 million people, representing 28 nationalities. Nearly 90 per cent of them were Jews. After a short break, drive to Auschwitz II-Birkenau where the visit with the guide continues. Walk along the railway which facilitated transport to the other part of the camp. See ruins of gas chambers in which people "vanished" on a mass scale. You can contribute to keeping the memory of the atrocities committed there by coming there and learning more about it.

  • From March 2020, new guidelines at Auschwitz-Birkenau mean booking well in advance is the only way to ensure you are able to visit it. It is generally possible to change your ticket's date and time after purchase if necessary. Be sure to contact the local partner with any questions you may have about your booking time and date
  • The memorial's visitor service determines the pace and duration of the tours

It says 2:15, actual tour starts at 3. Except that being a little confusing. The guide was really helpful and tour was conducted well. Since the museum itself is a really sensitive place, the tour is heavy to the heart. But it was organized with proper sensitivity surrounding that.

Erstmal wurde unsere deutsche Führung einen Tag vor Anreise abgesagt. Wir hatten nur die Möglichkeit auf eine englische Führung oder eben 100% Gutschrift. Schwierig zu entscheiden, wenn man sich auf die Reise mit Unterkunft vorbereitet hat. Zum Zeitpunkt des Treffpunkts war niemand vor Ort und wir haben keine Information erhalten. Erst nach Anruf des Veranstalters wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass der Guide noch nicht da ist und wir warten sollen. Jegliche Fragen und Telefonate mussten auf Englisch durchgeführt werden. Die Führung hat viel später begonnen als geplant. Die Bewertung hat nichts mit der Information der Führung durch das Museum an sich zu tun. Das alles war in allem eine interessante Führung.

It was a really good tour! The organisation was perfect, I got a message with all the details a day before the tour. The guide in the museum was really nice and knowledgeable! The tour itself is an absolute must-see. Such an incredibly sad and upsetting story about this place.
