Full description

Discover the natural landscapes of Colombia on this guided excursion. Visit Santa Catalina, and bathe yourself in the purifying mud of the volcano.

As the minivan leaves town, hear some curious facts about Cartagena's history and some tips to ensure a better experience at the mud volcano. The trip to Santa Catalina, another beautiful Colombian city and the location of the volcano, lasts around 45 minutes.

Upon arrival at the volcanic zone, be greeted by the owner of a small nearby restaurant. Then, prepare for a unique experience as you climb the 50 steps that surround the volcano; remember to wear old clothing as the mud can be rough on delicate materials.

Immerse yourself in the volcanic mud, reaping the health benefits for your skin from the millions of minerals. Some people say afterward, you'll appear 10 years younger. Inside the volcano, you can float thanks to the high number of minerals present. There will be some locals around offering massages for an extra price of 2 USD. Outside of the volcano, pay to get your photo taken for another 2 USD. When the soaking is over, head to the lake for a shower.

Before continuing back to the city, enjoy a typical snack in a rustic restaurant. Get dropped off at your hotel.

The drive was a bit much, so if you get car sick be aware. We got there early compared to the other tourist, so we didn't have to stand in line long. Once you are about to get into the volcano the staff takes your phone to take pics, but it is a bit unorganized so you may want to have a friend take your pic/video, or redirect them to take more pics. The volcanic mud felt nice, great experience, and enjoyed the massage. Please wear swimming shoes, because those rocks coming up and down hurt. The rinse in the ocean was okay, the ladies are very persistent.

The volcano was a little underwhelming when I first saw it. It looked bigger in the pictures. But the mineral bath at the top was a pretty cool experience! It’s a pretty short excursion. You go into the mineral bath for about 10 minutes and then wash off in the lagoon and then have a quick snack. Then you’re back on the bus to Cartagena. The tour guide was great though. I wouldn’t say this is must do while visiting Cartagena but if you have a free day with no plans, this is good option in that case.

Our tour was great! The volcano was relaxing after you climbed down the ladder. Once in you are positioned on your back and pushed across the mud for a massage. You have to pay for the massage but it’s like $2US. There are people there that can take photos with your camera of you through the whole mud process. It is safe. When you come out of the mud climbing up another ladder. You are assisted to help you get out. You walk down the stairs and some ladies take you down to the warm lake and wash off all the mud. It’s refreshing. Of course, they are working for tips. It’s worth it. After you fully rinsed. You receive a snack(empanada and a soda). Time well spent. I Reccommend this your
