loved the guides local knowledge, she was also excellent at spotting nature and taking the boat to see it if possible. we were very lucky as we got to see dolphins
We really enjoyed the 2 hour small boat scenic cruise! Though there are tons of different companies with boat cruises leaving the same port at the same time, we were the only one that went all the way out to the ocean, so we saw the entire Sound! It took about one hour to get out to the mouth of the Sound and then an hour ride back. The boat was also the smallest one in the harbor, which I thought was nice. The captains narrated a few different things, and we saw waterfalls and seals. There was also complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. When deciding on the timing of your cruise, the sun will be best for pictures on the way out in the morning and the way back in during the afternoon. So if you want the best lit pictures of the classic Milford Sound photos, choose a morning cruise.

Know before you go
- We recommend bringing a waterproof jacket as we get very close to the waterfalls and there is a chance you can get wet from the spray.
- We do not provide any food options onboard our vessels. Please feel free to bring some food along with you in a bag or backpack to enjoy whilst on your cruise.
- Please notify staff if you have a passenger with a disability, and we can organize to board the party early to avoid queueing. Please communicate any specific needs with the crew and we will do our best to accommodate.
- If a passenger is wheelchair bound, we highly suggest using the terminal restrooms prior to the cruise.
