Full description

Meet your guide at Kaminarimon gate in Asakusa, Tokyo to explore the greater part of Asakusa. It will be around 1 to 2 kilometers of walking and you will visit the non-touristy areas and family-owned shops and restaurants.  You will first visit a standing sushi restaurant owned by a fish dealer. Learn how to eat sushi and taste fresh seafood that you might not have tried before. Sushi used to be fast food before in Japan and now you will also learn how to properly eat sushi. Have the chance to visit a family-owned soba restaurant where you will enjoy fresh soba and gyoza at a local restaurant that only locals go to. Try handmade rice crackers at a local store with over 100 years of history. Taste some Japanese snacks which are a hidden gem that started with a food stand 50 years ago in Tokyo. Finally, you will also visit Sensoji Temple, one of the largest temples in Tokyo to learn about Japanese culture and history.

こんにちは Kon'nichiwa We liked the tour very much! Our guide (Sorry I don't remember the right name) was friendly and has a great culinary knowledgeand and spoke excellent english. The tour itself was entertaining and interesting.The small food stores are worth a visit and I would like to come back. The lunch stop for sushi in the restaurant was fantastic - very traditional private atmosphere. Group size was small with 2 persons and therefor very individually to our wishes Overall highly recommend this tour. Japan is very interesting and we hope to return to Tokyo soon. Best regards from vienna Andrea & Gerhard

This tour was so fun, Chi was great! We got to ask all our questions about Japanse food culture and learned a lot about the proper way to eat sushi, even though we've been eating it all our lives. It was also the best sushi of our trip. Highly recommend!

Our tour with Leigh (sp?) was simply amazing. The itinerary was perfect, organized, well thought out, and executed well within the limited time we had together. The food stops were aligned in the correct order and every one provided local fresh cuisine. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area, food, and culture. Additionally, translation was well received as she spoke English and conversed the entire time. Highly recommend!
