Full description
Ancient shipyard of the last shipwrights Included in the price 1. Guide in Italian and English 2. Liability insurance 3. Admission ticket to the ancient shipyard from 1800 with guided Italian and English tour with the last shipwright of the Rodolico family The oldest evidence of the Rodolico Shipyard's activity is an invoice delivered in 1808, recorded in the archives of the Sicilian Region. While this document does not specify the purpose of the work requested of the shipwrights, a second and more recent document, marked with the year 1908, testifies to the manufacture of a boat commissioned to the craftsmen of Aci Trezza by the University of Catania and used to transport passengers to the Isole dei Ciclopi, the small archipelago off the shores of Aci Trezza, which has been a Protected Marine Area since 2004. It is presumed that the shipyard of Salvatore Rodolico's ancestors was located in Riposto, but his grandfather and father already carried out craft activities in Aci Trezza. The street that then housed the warehouse was therefore named after the family (Via Rodolico). During the visit, Giovanni, the ultimate master who speaks Sicilian dialect, will be present with a guide who will translate Italian and English, and will present all the unique tools, together with what he calls the 'computer' and the materials that are used to build these boats that have a history of more than 200 years....now sailing on the sea....
