From Accra: Cape Coast Slave Dungeons Day Trip with Lunch

1. From Accra: Cape Coast Slave Dungeons Day Trip with Lunch

Visit Cape Coast, the capital of the Central Region in Southern Ghana and known for its role in the transatlantic slave trade. Begin with a visit to the Kakum National Park, home to endangered mammals. The park is rich in butterflies and birds, and also has a suspended canopy walkway 30 meters above the ground. Take a transfer in an air-conditioned 4x4 cross country. Stay refreshed en route with water and snacks and chat to your experienced, friendly, and helpful guide. Visit Elmina Castle, which was erected by the Portuguese in 1482. It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea and is the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. Then, depart for Cape Castle. Cape Coast Castle is one of about forty "slaves castles," or large commercial forts, built on the Gold Coast of West Africa by European traders. It was originally a Portuguese feitoria or trading post, established in 1555. At the end of your tour, return to Accra.

What people are saying about Accra

A long day but packs a lot in - 2 castles and a rainforest, with a good lunch in a beautiful restaurant looking over a bird sanctuary. Our guide was very very good, gave us lots of information without overloading us, and dealt calmly with emergencies (a tyre blow-out!) along the way. We felt very safe with him. Very much enjoyed our day out.

Emmanuel was very professional and personable. Gave me distance but was always within a range where if I needed anything he would be there promptly. He drove around all day for me and was just a really cool guy. Protect him at all costs and pay that man good because he’s a great worker.

David was everything honestly without him the trip would’ve lack his charming and personable touch. The trip was very good, very well thought through and planned out. Got to see a different side of Ghana and was absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommended!!! Setor.

Ishmael was a safe driver and very courteous. On the outward part of the trip he was a wealth of knowledge about modern history of Ghana ( 1930-present day) as well as the history of Cape Castle. Well done

Ishmeal did a wonderful job. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and will definitely use him in the future.
