Full description

Start your journey with hotel pickup and hit the road to Hana as you head towards the Ulupalakua Ranch. Explore one of Maui’s oldest ranches with its beautiful rolling pastures and green forestry. Then, head for the scenic backside of the island around Kaupo.

Enter the Kipahulu District and the edge of the rainforest. Charles Linberg’s loved the area so much that he requested to be buried here after he died. See his grave at the 19th-century Palapalahoomau Church, before witnessing the spectacular Wailua waterfall. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to Koki Beach. Relax surrounded by breathtaking white sand, and turquoise-colored water, with the rainforest stopping right at the shoreline. Walk along the edge of the bay, sit under a tree, or maybe even go for a swim.

Travel to the traditional villages of Wailua and Keanae. Learn about their hunting and cooking customs, and pause for a bite to eat and drink at the famous Half Way to Hana Snack stand. Feast on fresh coconut, cold drinks, and original fresh-baked banana bread.

Close by, you'll visit the Waikamoi Stream and the Hamakua Ditch. Now you'll make your final run of the Island visiting its beautiful rainforests and Hookipa Beach. The largest area of rainforest in the state of Hawaii is along the Hana Highway.

Moving past Haiku, the last stop of the day will be at Hookipa Beach. Considered the windsurf capital of the world, enjoy a few minutes watching wind surfers, kite boarders, and surfers challenge the oceans waves and shoreline winds. Take pictures, swim, or enjoy the view without the large crowds because of your unique route.

We were in Hawaii for almost 3 weeks, touring around and this was one of the best trips we did. Kristie absolutely made this an experience we will never forget. Each stop was brilliant and Kristie has music for every occasion, including the Jurassic Park theme tune and Highway to Hell, which was incredibly amusing. The black sand beach was excellent, and the views along the road were spectacular, including the multiple waterfalls, which was incredibly impressive following heavy rain before our visit. The different micro climates along the way were fascinating, as well as opportunities to taste plants which were reminiscent of ginger and black pepper. Kristie was incredibly knowledgeable about local plants and Hawaiian culture, this really was an amazing trip and we would highly recommend.

This was an amazing adventure. We had to reschedule our trip at the last minute because the first tour company cancelled our trip.. We were so thankful that Get Your Guide had slots available.. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job. I had to tell my wife to stop talking several times during this trip because I was trying to listen to the things that the guide was saying. I was amazed at his knowledge of Hawaiian history. He was fearless on the curvy one way roads to Hana. He was able to navigate the route with ease. Road to Hana is a must do while in Maui.

It’s beautiful and the guide, Christy, was excellent. She shared lots of stories and Hawaiian history in an engaging manner. However, if you get motion sickness this is not the trip for you. I felt poorly for much of the trip even though I took meds for it. It was just too twisty for me but it wasn’t the tour company’s fault.
