Don’t miss out, book in advance. Visitors can discover more about Van Gogh and his contemporaries with the multimedia guide, available in 11 languages. Van Gogh had many heroes whose work he greatly admired. One of these artists was Jean-François Millet, and from October 4, 2019, to January 12, 2020, the Van Gogh Museum will illuminate the work of this French painter and the prominent 19th-century artists who followed in the exhibition Millet and Modern Art. An amazing experience! I'm not sorry I spent almost 3 hours here, on a rather short first trip to Amsterdam (I'm saying "first trip" because I know I'll be back). The audio is a MUST-add (it's 3 euros), since it gives SO much background and additional information on Van Gogh's life - it really creates a full picture and helps you feel like you're part of his story. The museum is easy to get around - stairs and elevators - and each floor is a separate time period of his life, which contributed to the enjoyment of the experience.

The museum is second to none. It is worth every penny and every moment. Even the souvenirs were worthy of purchasing. However, my friend did not realize I had purchased both 2 tix. She purchased a 3rd tix. When she tried to get her refund outside the 24hour window as indicated by the policy, she was denied.

The museum is amazing and provides a great overview of Van Gogh’s life and work as he slowly drifted to insanity. The way that other artists inspired his work is also explained elaborately by displaying his work alongside theirs. All tickets provided by the museum were sold out. Getyourguide saved the day!
