Full description

Designed by architect Frank Gehry, the Fondation Louis Vuitton building is a work of art in itself. Marvel at the structure from the outside before entering the museum with your ticket. Explore the venue’s 11 galleries, taking in both the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Spend as much time as you like admiring the different exhibitions or venture a little further to learn about the many services offered by the Fondation. With a documentation center containing thousands of printable articles, a bookshop, and a Michelin-starred restaurant, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye.

The ongoing exhibition February 27th 2023 is "Monet - Mitchell" which creates an unprecedented "dialogue" between the works of two exceptional artists, Claude Monet (1840-1926) and Joan Mitchell (1925-1992).

Discover the "Claude Monet - Joan Mitchell, Dialogue" which is introduced by the "Joan Mitchell, Retrospective", enabling the public in France and Europe to discover her work. The "Monet - Mitchell" exhibitions present each artist’s unique response to a landscape and nature in an immersive way.

Find out how in his last paintings, the 'Water Lilies,' Monet aimed to recreate in his studio the motifs he observed at length on the surface of his water lily pond in Giverny.

Contrast this with how Joan Mitchell would explore a memory or a sense of the emotions that she felt while in a place that was dear to her. Admire how her perceptions remained vivid beyond space and time and are illustrated in abstract works from her studio in Vétheuil, a small French village.

The works are very avant-garde of course, but it's a pity that there is no audio guide, for the explanations in scans they are very brief. Why is it so cold in most Museums? It spoils the pleasure of being able to stay longer. No toilets for all 3 out of 5 were closed. Otherwise it's a nice place.

Very nice place this foundation. The very complete Morozov exhibition, some rooms for my taste are too overloaded with paintings placed in line … a little sad. Very hot also in these rooms. But I retain the positive, beautiful exhibition, marvelous Matisse. They had taste, these Morozov brothers, in addition to having the means to acquire them.

Too bad the electric shuttle only allows a very limited number of passengers. And on the way back, the shuttle was there but there was a problem with the payment terminal... whereas only visitors with a full and paid entry ticket have access????? Conclusions = too long a waiting list for the following .... we left on foot!!!!
