Today’s Basilica, built over Constantine’s, is the expression of the will of the Popes of the Renaissance, who availed themselves of the work of the greatest artists of their time, such as Bramante, Michelangelo, Bernini and Maderno. Along a path of art, faith and spirituality, visitors will admire the magnificence of the building, walk down the naves, visit the chapels and admire the beauty of the works of art, which include Michelangelo’s Pietà. The visit to the tombs of the Popes in the Vatican Cellars is also not to be missed.

The meeting point is at the Reception Desk located on the right side of the steps of St. Peter's Basilica after the security checks. You must arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked time. It will be sufficient to show your reservation to the Basilica staff.

I was the only person who had signed on for the Englidh language tour at that time so had an individual guided tour. The guide was very informative and spoke excellent English. St Peter's is such a large church that it did not feel crowded even with the crowds that were present. More warning should be given about the length of time.e needed to get through security checks. I allowed 40 minutes. This was not enough. 2 hours would be a more realistic estimate.
