Full description

Enjoy an adventurous day trip to Mount Etna, including handy roundtrip transfers from Catania. Best of all, customize your tour according to your needs, choosing from either a private or small-group experience in a choice of languages. Explore the volcano’s ancient craters, a lava flow cave, and try some local products, while taking in some breathtaking panoramic views along the way. Start your day with a pick-up from your Catania accommodation in an air-conditioned 4x4 or minivan. Digest some fun facts about the volcano from your professional guide as you drive 2000 meters up. Hear about everything from the volcano’s natural resources, memorable landscapes, and flora, to lava flows that have swallowed roads and buildings in past spurts of activity. Once you reach 2000 meters up, take a guided walk around the ancient craters, recent lava flows, and other-worldly landscape. Rest easy as the trek is an easy one, suitable for both families with younger children and older family members. Try a mini-sampling of Sicilian delicacies during the trek, with some "cantucci" biscuits and "zibibbo" wine both up for tasting. After a short break, head to your next stop — a lava flow cave. Using a helmet and flashlight, you’ll discover the cave’s origins and stand-out features in ample time with your guide. Your last stop is a panoramic viewpoint at Monte Pomiciaro, granting you unforgettable views and photo opportunities over the Valle del Bove, the volcano’s most important valley. If the sunset option is selected, take in breathtaking views of Etna during 'Golden Hour'. After your volcanic adventure, head back to Catania, where your tour will conclude.

Our guide Daniele was amazing! Really informative, funny and personable. Super! Itinerary and timing are really good too. We took the tour in two languages, and Daniele was really good in switching between English and Italian. I would have preferred a tour in one language only, but it was clear at the time of the booking.

Great tour, Simon was endlessly positive and knowledgeable. Really convenient that you can be collected, and was even told when he was running just a few minutes late in traffic via WhatsApp. A nice combination of scenery including a small lava cave and then stroll around etna. Not a taxing walk at all (though understandably uneven surfaces so not ideal for those unstable on their feet - but that’s not the tour that’s just the type of place you are!) , you didn’t walk far before stopping to chat and learn new things. I didn’t need my windbreaker as it was warm enough and could leave it in the van. We wore walking boots, but a good pair of trainers would have been fine! Would thoroughly recommend

Very nice and chatty tour guide made you feel at ease about it all, very informative of all things including local little villages on the way and happy to answer any questions about the tour and other things you may need help with in the local areas. I’m a very unfit person and although the beginning of the hike up Etna seemed really hard it evened out quickly enough and that was the hardest part so first five minutes be prepared but after that easier hiking for even the most unfit person! Only down side was time at the end as free time to be able to sit and have a drink in the local restaurant and cafe after a hot strenuous long walk and look at the souvenirs properly as toilets could take a while with queues if busy, also it was a hot day around 27 degrees in the city and was just as hot at the top of Etna so was no need to have dressed for the cold as we were sweltering, just need a cardigan for the cave on hot days.
