Full description

Choose from either a shared group or private guided experience to see 2 iconic markets on a day trip from Bangkok. See a market located on the railway tracks, the Maeklong Railway Market, and a market that floats on the canals at the Damnoen Saduak Market. After pickup, arrive at the Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hup (“Umbrella Pulldown Market”). Maeklong is one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand and hugs the track of the Maeklong Railway.

Gain fascinating insights into how the market is run and what products are sold here from your local guide. Marvel at how market stalls and awnings are pulled back from the tracks every time a train approaches to let the train pass through. Next, head to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the most famous floating markets in Thailand. To reach the market, take a short ride in a paddleboat. Enjoy plenty of time to meander around the colorful market, where friendly vendors sell directly from their boats.

Take in the sights and sounds, and try local specialties like mango sticky rice. Your guide will give you advice on what not to miss. Return to Bangkok in time for the early afternoon.

Know before you go

  • The boat ride at Damnoen Saduak usually involves a traffic jam. To enhance your customer experience, this tour does not include the boat ride on the canal. However, if there is less boat traffic on the day of your visit and you would like to take a boat trip, your guide can contact the boat vendor for you to guarantee the best price (normally about 150 Baht for a 25-30 minute ride)
  • Due to some remaining Covid-related restrictions, the markets may not be as lively as expected. Not all vendors have fully resumed selling at their stalls

The tour guide showed up earlier than planned which was okay because I was ready. The van was nice and cool. The first stop to look at the salt was an added bonus while waiting for the train. I love that you get to ride the train through the market and then also get to watch the train leave while you’re in the market. They provided a bottle of water. Then we went to the floating market- a really amazing experience but there’s a high chance you’ll get splashed a few times from the motored boats. We were given a decent amount of time to eat lunch. I think this tour could have been better if they made it a few hours longer and included the dragon temple sense it’s out that way.

The tour was really great and we enjoyed it a lot. Our guide was very sweet and welcoming, explaining everything clearly. In terms of organization was good as well, with a comfortable van taking us where we needed to be and water bottles for everyone. The best part for us was the floating market, where you get to be on a boat, passing through the water channels. The tour is worth the money!

Lovely day visiting these two markets. Pick-up was punctual which was nice. We arrived at the train station around 10:25 and had a little walkaround before boarding the train. It was a fun way to ride into the railway market. Later we could see the train leave from the market so we had two perspectives. This stop was super short, slightly rushed so we couldn’t go far. It was really cool to see the market though! The floating market was amazing! We got to go into a paddle boat and see all the vendors from the water. After that we had some time for lunch. The market was lovely and not so rushed (although we would have liked more time there seeing as we came all that way). If you’re very tall the cramped space in the van might be too small for you. Our guide Reesa and our driver were super friendly and made our day.
