Full description

Meet your guide at Cobra Cafe, at Museumplein, next to the Rijksmuseum, to start your journey to the highlights of the Dutch Golden Age. You guide will have the Rijksmuseum ticket at the ready for you (Vermeer Exhibition tickets are not included). Discover the art and objects that defined the new Dutch Republic. Be amazed by the illusionism of the still-life paintings and be inspired by the scale of Rembrandt’s "The Nightwatch." Learn about some of the most famous features and works in the Museum including Rembrandt’s Portraits, Ferdinand Bol’s self-portrait, Jan Steen’s family interiors, Vermeer’s "The Milkmaid", 7th Century Delftware, 17th Century Dolls Houses, and The Pierre Cuypers Library. Along the way, your professional guide will explain the social and historical context that gave rise to one of the biggest middle-class art markets the world had ever seen. After the tour, you are welcome to continue to explore the rest of some of the 8,000 works on display or relax in the cafe or museum shop. Your ticket is valid all day.

Our tour was fantastic. I loved our tour guide for the Rijks Museum. She was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us the highlights of the collection. She used a mic that spoke into our earpieces so we could hear everything she said even if we were not right in front of her. I learned so much! Great tour. I took the tour with relatives and our adult (20's) children. Everyone in the group loved it. Highly recommend to make sense of this huge museum.

Our guide, Holly, was really terrific. She felt bad that I was so disappointed that we did not get to see the Van Meer collection. On the website it shows Van Meer pictures making me think that those pictures would be part of our tour. That was underhanded and I was SO sad. However after awhile Holly's knowledge and patience made me so happy to see Rembrandt, Steen, and so many other wonderful artists. Thank you Holly!

Good, but it wasn’t clear that we had to meet the guide OUTSIDE the museum. We waited by the Cafe and toilets inside, as instructed with our tickets, having left our coats in the cloakroom and nearly missed the tour as we had to run to find the guide at the last minute in the rain (without our coats). The guide was good but must always face the people not the painting when explaining for everyone to hear. We enjoyed the tour.
