The tour guide, Gustavo, was very knowledgeable, hepful, and entertaining. We were worried about how much walking was required but we bought a ride up (and down) to the Pena palace. At Monserrate Palace they had a shuttle also. Those really helped and even with bad knees we managed. There is still lots of walking.
