Start in Reykjavik and head to Borgarnes, the gateway to West Iceland. After being picked up from your accommodation, you will travel west to the historic area of Borgarfjörður, a region that can be regarded as the setting for most of the Icelandic sagas. First, visit the charming Glanni Waterfall and Deildartunguhver Geothermal Area. Afterward, you will see the great Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls spread at a distance of around 900 meters. The waters flow out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field that was formed around 1,000 years ago during a massive eruption of a volcano lying under a Langjökull glacier. Rivulets streaming from the lava field create one of the most breath-taking views in Iceland, and just a few meters away, you will find another interesting waterfall.  The highlight of the tour is a visit to a colorful Vidgelmir lava cave. Just shy of 1,600 meters in length, the cave features amazing colors and lava formations that lurk in the depths of the earth. The area surrounding the entrance to the cave will allow you to realize just how powerful eruptions of volcanoes can be. Lastly, visit the Reykholt historic site where you can learn about the history of Iceland and see Snorralaug, small hot spring used by local people since the 12th century. This place was first mentioned in medieval writings OF Snorri Sturluson, the famous Icelandic poet, and politician who used to bathe there.

This tour begins with our free pickup service in central Reykjavík. The first stop of the day is to Kerið, a volcanic crater formed after an enormous eruption over 1000 years ago. Enjoy the view along the crater top walkway or descend the steps to the lake below. Great photo opportunities are to be found from each vantage point. The next stop is to Friðheimar farm which has a greenhouse, horse farm and restaurant. Here you will meet the tiny icelandic horse and see a horse show demonstration of their unique gaits. Next up you will be taken on a tour of the greenhouse where tomatoes and cucumbers are produced to an impressive scale. Here you will also have a table reservation for lunch though please note that lunch itself is not included in your ticket price. Later you come to Geysir geothermal park, home of the eponymous Geysir, though it is its younger sister Strokkur that now erupts regularly. You will have time to witness several eruptions as it erupts every 7-10 minutes or so. Take a leisurely walk around an see other bubbling pools with the distinctive sulfur smell lingering heavily in the air. Just a short drive from Geysir, lies the immensely powerful waterfall, Gullfoss. This waterfall lies on the Hvitá river which itself is fed by meltwater from Langjökull glacier to the north. Here you are met first by the water mist from the falls before you even see them. Take the walking path down to the falls or stay to the higher path for a bird´s eye view. There is no wrong choice here. The final sightseeing stop of the day is to Thingvellir National Park. Here Icelanders met in an ancient parliament assembly, the longest continuous assembly is the world, though now located in Reykjavík. But perhaps more significantly here one can visibly see the continental rift between the american and euroasian tectonic plates, a rift increasing in size by the year. Walk between the continents! We’ll let you see for yourself but soaking in the history and walking between the North American to the European tectonic plates this place will offer you nothing but spectacular views. Then it’s time to hit the road again and our next stop is the Geyser. Now, Geyser has been inactive for some time but Strokkur (right next to it) erupts every 5-8 minutes. Here, it’s important to not stand too close to the water – and have your camera ready. We continue our journey and the next stop is the Golden Waterfall. Located in the canyon of Hvítá, the waterfall plummets down into a 32-meter deep crevice. From the parking area, it's also possible to walk all the way down to the falls. It’s about a 10-minute walk but please be aware the walkway might be closed off in certain weather conditions. After we’ve witnessed all the natural phenomenon’s the golden circle offers, we’re continuing our journey and the next stop is lunch. Friðheimar Tomato Farm is a unique food experience. It has ample supplies of geothermal water that provides heat to the greenhouses where they grow tomatoes. We will walk around the greenhouse and taste their famous tomato soup. You will have a chance to enjoy a delicious main course and dessert (or drink if you prefer) all included in the tour price. We highly recommend to try their famous cheesecake! Stuffed and satisfied hopefully, we’ll go back to the bus and continue our journey. The last stop – but certainly not least – is the Hvammsvik Hot Springs, the most unique baths in Iceland. Situated along the shoreline, it offers eight natural hot springs of varying temperatures – mixing geothermal water with seawater from the ocean. It's the best location to enjoy a drink (first drink is included) and relax after a adventures day. Since they are situated on the Atlantic Ocean, the water level changes depending on the time of day. That is why it’s called the ever-changing experience. Don’t miss out on that!

Day 1: After being picked up in Reykjavik, your tour begins by driving on the scenic route 1 to the town of Borgarnes.
