From Inverness: Skye Explorer Full-Day Tour with 3 Hikes

Departure from Inverness This tour departs from Inverness city centre at 7.45am. Eilean Donan Castle Our first stop is at one of the world's most photographed castles and we are here (you guessed it!) to snap a photo, from an iconic viewpoint. We will spend around 10 minutes admiring the castle in its coastal location and, from here, we are just a few minutes' drive to the Skye Bridge. Please note that there is not enough time to go into the castle. Cuillin Mountains Explore the dramatic scenery of the Red and Black Cuillins and take in the awe-inspiring views. Close to the drop off point there is a historic bridge and monument to discover. For those who prefer to get off the beaten path you can join your guide for a walk. Alternatively, there are also stunning pools and waterfalls just a little further afield, which are worth a visit. We will spend around 1 hour at this wonderful location. Portree We will have a lunch stop in the cute coastal town of Portree. For those who have used our lunch pre-ordering service at the start of the day, this is your opportunity to collect your lunch, without having to wait around. For those who prefer to do their own thing there are a number of bakeries and eateries in the village (please note that there is not enough time for a sit down lunch). We'd recommend taking a wander down to see the pretty pastel-coloured houses that hug the shoreline, or explore some of the village's unique independent shops. Old Man of Storr As we drive north the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic - these are the awesome landscapes that draw visitors from all over the world to this tiny isle. Soon it's time for our second hike of the day, to the base of the mighty Old Man of Storr, a jagged basalt rock which is said to be a giant's thumb! From the base of the Old Man of Storr there are fantastic views of the surrounding rock pinnacles. On a clear day you will also be rewarded with the striking outlines of the Red and Black Cuillins, and views out over the Sound of Raasay to the isles of Raasay and Rona. We will spend around 1 3/4 hours here. Quiraing Our last stop is definitely one of the absolute highlights on Skye, instantly recognisable from films such as Stardust, Prometheus and many others. The Quiraing is a series of landslips that have combined to form awe-inspiring scenery. We will spend around 40 minutes here, and you won't have to venture far from the mini-coach to find your very own slice of Skye wilderness. The journey home After a day of adventure you will be able to sit back and relax on the journey home, knowing that you have truly experienced the wonderful Isle of Skye. Rest assured that your guide will still have plenty of stories and music up his sleeve to keep you entertained on the way back. We will arrive back into Inverness at 9pm, with stories and memories to last a lifetime.

The tour takes you to the Trossachs National Park, where you catch a glimpse of the national mascots: the Highland Cows. The landscape of the Highlands will be showing itself in all its glory from this moment onward: all around you’ll see dramatic valleys, Lochs, mountains, and what’s left of the Caledonian Forest. Your next stops are beautiful Glencoe and Fort William. You’ll spend the night at your chosen accommodation provider in the Isle of Skye, in the Portree area. Begin the next day with a walk to the Fairy Pools, where, if the weather allows, you will have the option to dive with the Fairies. Then go to Talisker Distillery based in Carbost, producing a lovely Peated Single Malt Scotch. Here you can enjoy a nose around the Visitor Centre and a dram or 2 if so you fancy. Get dropped off at Dunvegan Castle to visit the Castle and have a lunch. Isle of Skye: Tour the highlights and hidden beauties.

Isle of Skye: Tour the highlights and hidden beauties.

You will be picked up by your guide from your accommodation at a time to suit you. Although we will have previously created the itinerary of your bespoke tour together by email, this is a last chance to make changes depending on weather and your inclination. Most tours begin with the famous Trotternish peninsula including the Old Man of Storr, Lealt Falls, the Kilt Rock and the Quirang. This stunning topography, a popular location for many film-makers, was created around 60 million years ago by a massive landslip. You may wish to calm your nerves with a wee dram from your guide's mobile bar at some point! After that, we will visit the tragic ruin of Duntulm Castle which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and optionally visit the Crofters' Museum nearby which centres on 5 ancient 'black' houses recreating the living conditions of 200 years ago. On the western side of the peninsula we continue to the Fairy Glen and then strike further west to either Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point Lighthouse or the Fairy Pools. Finally your guide will drop you back at your accommodation having immersed yourself in the beauty and violent history of the Island.

The tour was lovely. Planned out very well. Our guide Chris was brilliant. He was very knowledgeable about the area. On one of the days, he added an extra stop at rhe Fairy Glen because he said it was worth the view and I completely agreed. All the spots on the tour were picked out well and we had a good amount of time at every stop. Chris never rushed us and even though we ended up back at the bus a little bit late at one of the stops, it was no problem at all. Cannot say enough good things about this tour. Worth the money. Chris was an excellent tour guide.

We loved the entire trip and our guide’s non stop funny commentary. The commentary was so engaging my 7 years old son even enjoyed it. I felt the trip includes enough stops for food and toilet breaks. The bus was very comfy & the entire trip was perfect. Thanks

Andrew, our driver and guide was a delight - funny, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Highest recommendation for him and for his tour group, WOW. Vastly superior experience compared to larger tour companies.

My family and I had a great time on this tour of Skye. Andy S and Wendy were great guides and made us laugh the whole time :) beautiful landscapes all around and well timed stops. Highly recommend this 2 day tour!

Absolutely magical day. Weather and our tour guide were both absolutely great! Worth every penny.
