Rafael knows his stuff! We definitely recommend anybody to tour Rocinha with him! It's also a huge plus that he speaks 5 languages! English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Hebrew! Not only did we feel 100% safe with him on our tour, we left with a much deeper understanding and appreciation for what life in a favela is like for the people who live there. Rafael was very thorough and made sure to stop and see if we had questions along the way! We went on our tour in the late afternoon so luckily it wasn't too hot but make sure you wear comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking up and downhill and some parts can be quite exhausting if you're not used to walking up and down steep slopes. Again, we can't thank him enough and HIGHLY recommend him to anyone! Tell him Christian and Alexis from America sent you!

Great guide and a great tour. They tend to cancel at really short notice if there are not enough people. Which I can understand but please plan more time. I recommend to just pay for the group to fill up.
