Begin by getting fitted out with all of the appropriate ice climbing equipment including alpine boots, crampons, a harness, and a helmet. Ride a short ways to icefall, where your guide will take you through the first basic steps of climbing vertical ice. Scale vertical sheets of ice under the careful guidance of your guide, and feel the thrill of real climbing.

On this tour, we usually head up through the Abisko valley along the edge of the national park to get away from the village lights. Then, depending on the conditions, we may do any number of things. We may drive up the mountains to get away from the fog, we could head up through the national park towards Abiskojaure, or we could go out on the massive lake Torne Träsk. The guide will decide what looks best for the particular evening. We will make several stops to look for the aurora, enjoy the landscape, take pictures, change drivers, or play in the snow. You may choose to drive your own snowmobile, share one with a friend, or ride in the sled behind the guide. Children in the sled must be acompanied by at least 1 adult. The tour includes snowsuits, boots, hats, helmets for drivers, and gloves. Remember to dress warmly. We also include warm drinks and a light snack. Drivers must come 30 minutes before the start of the tour for driving instructions. You must be 18 years old and have a driver's license valid in the EU to drive a snowmobile on a tour

Experience the thrill of dog sledding in Kiruna with the ease of a round-trip transfer from Abisko. After a scenic bus transfer to Kiruna, you'll meet a team of enthusiastic sled dogs ready to take you on an unforgettable ride through the Arctic wilderness. During the dog sledding adventure, your professional musher/guide will drive a sled that accommodates up to four guests. Having a professional musher drive the sled ensures the highest levels of safety for you, and allows healthy guests of nearly all levels of physical ability to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime dog sledding adventure. While your professional musher controls the team of dogs, you can sit back, relax, take lots of pictures, and enjoy every second of your time in the Arctic wilderness. Approximately halfway through the dog sledding adventure, you will stop at a remote Arctic wilderness camp where your guide will prepare a warm fire, piping hot drinks, and classic Swedish Fika. An example of what might be served is a warm cup of coffee or tea and steaming cinnamon rolls. Here, you’ll also have the chance to interact with the sled dogs, give them a well-earned belly rub, and capture memorable photos before heading back to the starting point. After your adventure, we’ll return to Abisko, giving you time to reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Driving instructions start 30 minutes before the start of the tour. A snowmobile is the best way to get around the winter wonderland that is the Abisko Valley. We travel up the valley along the edge of the national park, and if the weather is good we can even go up towards the mountains for some absolutely spectacular views. We also encounter wildlife regularly, moose, reindeer, hares and ptarmigans are all common sights. We will make several stops along the way to enjoy the view and take pictures, and at one stop we will serve some warm drinks and light snacks. Depending on the option you choose you can either drive your own snowmobile, share one with a friend or go in the sled behind the guide. If you want to drive a snowmobile you need to be 18 years old and have a drivers license valid in the EU. 15-17 year olds may go on the back seat of a snowmobile with an adult. 7-14 year olds may go in the sled behind the guide. We do not recommend this tour for children under the age of 7. Children must be accompanied by at least 1 adult in the sled. Drivers need to be at the starting location 30 minutes before the start time of the tour. Drivers are responsible for damages caused to the snowmobile while driving.

The spectacular scenery that greets us as we head into Norway makes this tour something truly special. Mountains stand majestically up all around the fjords and lakes and the sea never fully freezes. We may even see eagles, orcas and porpoises, though we can’t guarantee it! This tour offers a wide range of photo opportunities. We set off from Abisko and head west alongside the magical Lake Torenträsk in our minibuses, crossing the border into Norway at Riksgränsen. During the trip we stop at some of the beautiful and historically significant places along the way and the guide will tell you about the area and history. The landscape changes dramatically as we head towards the fjords. There are a multitude of different fjords and routes we can choose, and where we go depends on the weather conditions of the day as well as the interest of the guests. We will make a stop in either Narvik or Bjerkvik where you can buy lunch. We start at the reception of Abisko Guesthouse and do pickups at STF, Björkliden and Riksgränsen. Please let us know if you need a pick up. Note that car windows may become icy on particularly cold days, this is considered normal and is to be expected. We will preform the tour even in such conditions since the stops we make along the way are the main point of the tour. We only guarantee the tour and communications in English. The guides may be able to speak in other languages but this is not guaranteed and the main guiding will still be done in English. You may rent a camera if you don't have your own and don't want to just use your phone. We have a total of 8 cameras. You will need either an SD card or a Micro SD card with an SD adapter. You can purchase SD cards from Abisko Guesthouse or Experience Abisko if you don't have one. The minimum required participants for the tour to go ahead is 2. The tour may be canceled on short notice under severe weather conditions and the road to Norway risks getting closed. Experience the thrill of searching for aurora in the area surrounding Abisko National Park. Enjoy convenient hotel pickup, and be led to where the aurora activity is the highest on the night of your expedition, and where the weather gives you a good chance of spotting the Northern Lights. Start your exciting adventure with a hotel pickup. After all the guests have gathered, your aurora-chasing guide will use their collective experience combined with local weather and aurora forecasts to make the best possible decision about where to look for the northern lights. Travel up to 90 km to one of several spectacular locations with a proven track record and a very high likelihood of success. Learn about aurora borealis and the history of Abisko National Park from your guide on the way. Upon arrival at your location, be treated to a cup of hot drink. If the location of the night is on a lake or river, see the auroras reflect on the open water. Some popular locations include the scenic shoreline of Lake Torneträsk with stunning views in every direction or a calm bay at the northwest end of Lake Torneträsk with Arctic views and a cozy fire pit. You may also find an amazing aurora outlook in the mountains surrounding Björkliden, or on the top of Bear Mountain near the border of Sweden and Norway. Alternatively, head to a remote fishing village near the mouth of the Torne River which flows out of Lake Torneträsk.

Capture the true feeling of a winter night in the arctic. Your guide will take you to learn the wintry way of movement with snowshoes. While walking on the snow, you will experience how the milky light of the moon and stars cast enchanting shadows through the snowfields. In Abisko there is a lot of animals that dwell in the birch forest during winter, so the possibility to see a lot of tracks is quite big. Most likely you will see tracks of forest hare, ptarmigan, foxes, lemmings, and if you are lucky you might even spot tracks form a moose. During the tour we will have a break and enjoy some warm berry juice while the only sound you hear is the sough of the forest and fells. If you are lucky, you may even see the Northern Lights dance over the lake Torneträsk and over the mountaintops. If there is a full moon and a clear sky you will also get a spectacular view over the Abisko mountain range which includes one of Sweden’s most famous mountain formations Lapporten which is a U-valley sculptured by the ice age.
