After exploring Kazaviti and learning about its history we drive uphill on dirt roads towards Achlada Hill. We make stops for pictures before we stop for our picnic. You start with our experienced guide through the mountain village of Maries and here you leave the paved road and you go on gravel roads parallel to the small river Lakkos Marion to the nice waterfalls that it forms above the reservoir. Continue to one of the island's most impressive marble quarries. Here you can watch the quarrying of the famous white marble. Secluded slopes lead you up to the Ipsarion, at 1206 m the highest mountain and the "roof of the island". You will never forget the unique view of the Thracian Sea from here! From here one can see the island of Thassopoula, the mainland and the river Nestos as it flows into the sea after its long journey and the coast of Macedonia and Thrace. Varied landscape accompanies you further to the mountain village of Kastro, an almost uninhabited village with a history of 600 years. There you will visit the church of Agios Athanasios and the ossuary of the village. In Kastro you can taste Greek home cooking in the traditional taverna. Welcome to the Ipsario Tour, a challenging route designed for everyone. Our top-notch fleet of bicycles ensures a comfortable and enjoyable journey, featuring a unique route on the east side of the island at the foot of Mount Ypsari, reaching a peak of 1204 m.The tour kicks off at our office, Hype Trails, where each participant receives their bike and undergoes a thorough check and fitting process. We then embark on our first kilometers in the scenic area of Skala Potamia, running parallel to the coastline. After a invigorating warm-up, we leave the beach behind and ascend a forest road towards the mountain. As we reach the area of Lefki, we turn left to continue along the forest road, running parallel to the mountain ridge. Following a challenging uphill journey of 10 kilometers, we descend to the traditional settlement of Potamia, passing through the village's charming square with its iconic plane trees, before taking the traditional route to Mount Ypsario. The ascent becomes increasingly demanding, culminating at the 20th kilometer, after which we head to our next destination, the picturesque settlement of Panagia, known for its stone houses. Here, we traverse the village's cobbled streets, passing through the heart of the settlement with its array of shops and souvenir stores, offering a perfect spot for a brief rest. Having conquered the demanding part of the route, we make our way to the golden coast, traveling the final kilometers along the coastal road back to our starting point. The journey concludes with a well-deserved rest and an opportunity for participants to engage in discussions about their experience.
