Faro: Eco-Friendly Ria Formosa Bird Watching in Solar Boat

9. Faro: Eco-Friendly Ria Formosa Bird Watching in Solar Boat

Ria Formosa is a place of extreme nature, with an environment that is always different at every hour of the day. This is due largely to the fact that the sea level rises and falls about 3 meters every 6 hours. Whilst there, you will discover a complete self-regenerating ecosystem, which allows a part of the local population to develop fishing and shellfish production. This provides all of the ingredients for the varied diets of the migratory birds that continue returning to this area year after year. You may be able to watch the hunting of predatory birds, and will also be able to enter into a maze of canals where the only thing that you will hear is the sound of the birds calling and their interactions with one another. At the conclusion of your tour, you will return by boat to your tour's point of origin.

The Guide Miguel picked us up at the hotel and he was very knowledgeable on the fruits and spices on the tour. He spoke english and also french for another couple. We stopped at the castle had a look around. The waterfall was lovely also but the highlight was the village of Alte. We were lucky as we did the trip on the 25th April and it was a national holiday with traditional activities, live music, local cuisine and different gift stalls oh and bottle of beer was 1.40 euro . All round the trip was excellent.

Excellent tour which is extremely well crafted. In seven hours you get interesting historic capital of local Moorish empire, a park made and fit for kings, the highest point in Algarve with breathtaking views, and three wines. What’s not to like. Plus very intelligent, organized, thoughtful and kind owner of company as tour guide! Can’t miss deal.

Absolutely amazing! Our guide was brilliant! He was so funny and the whole journey was comfortable and educational. He went above and beyond for us so we could see both waterfalls. We managed to pick some fresh thyme and fruit which was amazing and lavender. We have him a 10euro tip as that’s all we had on us or we’d of given him more!

Fun activity, it is worth seeing the caves, cliffs and beaches from the sea for the price it has cost. There are other companies that offer the same much more expensive.

If you don’t mind the push and shove to get on the train go for it!! The tour itself is lovely and informative.
