1. Mount Etna: Guided Volcano Summit Hiking Tour with Cable Car

Ascend to the summit of the craters of Mount Etna, one of the most coveted excursions a hiker can make. Hike with guide, and marvel at the beauty and wonder of the highest active volcano in Europe, up to 3,000 meters. Depart from Sapienza Refuge in Nicolosi, and ascend 2,504 meters by cable car and begin your hike. You’ll hike 1.5 hours uphill, passing many craters, in particular toward the crater of the 2001 eruption and the moon-like landscape that marks out the area. During the hike you will take long pauses to take pictures and rest. You will then carry on exploring on your hike towards the Cisternazza and the Belvedere on the Valle del Bove, considered the best panoramic spot on Mount Etna on a dazzling volcanic depression dating back to 64000 years ago! Here you will take a break to cherish the surroundings, take a few pictures and simply admire the landscape as from up there you are able to see the coast from Taormina until Syracuse. From here you will reach the Barbagallo craters, up to 3,000 meters, the highest point allowed, and enjoy a privileged view on the summit craters and their constant emission of gases and water vapours. Then you will march back to 2500 mt and take the cable car back to the Rifugio Sapienza. Visiting the places where a legendary movie was shot was an amazing experience. The villages, Savoca and Forza d'Agro are beautiful places in deep Sicily, where the build heritage stayed the same for 50 years (with the exception of the roads, which were paved). Marcello is a great guide who shared a lot of stories about the movie, but also about the history of Sicily, flora and local customs.

Marcelo was very accommodating, picking us up at the Taormina-Giardini train station, coming in from Catania. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about Taormina and the surrounding areas, as well as the Godfather movies. It was a perfect combination of knowledge, site seeing, and stopping to eat and shop outside of Bar Vitelli. A fun experience!

The places are beautiful and important, and explained with care and passion. But above all we enter a world of which I was ignorant, and which I instead feed on every day, perhaps today with more awareness and taste. Congratulations to the guide, he stimulates the salt in the pumpkin, with a lot of passion and care

The guide Orazio was very friendly, punctual, told a lot about Sicilian culture and Etna, it was a very interesting and exciting tour, always a pleasure. We saw and experienced a lot and were even dropped off at a spontaneous location on time. Thank you very much again. 😄🌿

Marcello is a fantastic guide! Super recommended experience :)
