Bayeux: American D-Day Sites in Normandy Tour
- Small group
- Duration options: 4 - 8 hours
What an incredible experience! Wow. We are so glad we ended up with this one! It was a very full day and truly nothing was left out. Our first stop was a Battery where we got to go inside the bunkers and learn about battle area there. There are still in tact cannons from DDay inside some of the bunkers which was crazy to witness. We then went to Omaha Beach, and and got to spend some time walking the area after our guide shared the history there. Afterwards we went to Point Du Hoc where the US Rangers climbed the ocean cliffs in order to take control of that stronghold. It was surreal to see the ground covered in huge divots where ally bombs were dropped. We stopped for lunch at a local Creperie, then spent time at the DDay Memorial and Cemetery. We ended with cider tasting at a local cider farm which was incredible and such a unique experience! Olivia, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and personable and her English was perfect. It was an experience we will never forget!
Great tour with a wonderful and knowledgable guide. The day is very long but well worth it if you don't have your own transportation to get to the Normandy area. The bus was comfortable, and I'm assuming for safety reasons, they switched drivers half way through the trip, loved this! Thank you for a wonderful day and the education to boot!!
The tour was wonderful! We enjoyed and appreciated the new information we received at every stop. The early morning gathering in Paris at the Trocadero was easy to reach, and the late return to the location still provided easy access to transportation back to our hotel.
We had the most amazing time on our tour. We were lucky to have the tour to ourselves + 1 other couple. It was set out beautiful and the scenes were breathtaking and more then we could ever have imagined.
I had a PHENOMINAL time on this tour. My guide, Marianne was incredibly knowledgeable. She made the experience so much more than a bland tour guide would have been. I would do this exact trip again.
