Meet your guide at a central meeting point for a short briefing on how the bikes work. Then, glide off towards the renovated Ribeira Market, where you will find an abundance of traditional stalls selling fish, fruit, vegetables, and flowers.  A separate area features more than 30 restaurants where you can taste food recommended by highly regarded chefs.  Next, bike down the former red light district of the Rua Nova de Carvalho (also known as “Pink Street”), famous for its animated nightlife, and recently named by the New York Times as one of the best streets in Europe. Pass the Cais do Sodré area, a hub of maritime activities since the 15th century and now the ferry terminal for the cacilheiros boats that connect Lisbon and Cacilhas.  Cycle alongside the River Tagus to the Torre Belém, and feast your eyes on the 25th of April Bridge, a symbol of the 25th of April Revolution that put an end to 41 years of dictatorship. Continue past the former thermoelectric plant that is now home to the Electricity Museum, and admire one of the best examples of Industrial architecture in Lisbon. Next, go to the Monument of the Discoveries built in 1940 for the Exhibition of the Portuguese World. Admire the depictions of Portugal’s “Age of Discoveries,” before looking at the 16th-century fortifications of the Torre Belém, part of a defensive system that protected Lisbon from pirates. Enjoy a quiet coffee break away from the tourist traps, before cycling to the 16th-century Monastery of Saint Jerome, one of the finest examples of Manueline-style architecture in the city. There will be the chance to taste one of the famous Belém custard tartlets in the magnificent gardens before it’s time to cycle back to the meeting point.

This was amazing. There was a bit of a mixup where we were rescheduled without knowing, but waiting it out was well worth it. The e-bikes made the hilly terrain an absolute breeze to navigate. The guide, Daniel, was fantastic, showing us the Belem sites and being incredibly patient as we stopped to tale pictures. And the pastry was phenomenal. We had a few pasteis before, but this one was the bomb. We bought some beer to make it even sweeter :) Note - if you are nervous around traffic, be aware that the Lisbon streets are tight and bike lanes are infrequent - you will be among the cars. Daniel knew how to navigate them, and managed everything very well. Trust in your guide! All things considered, this was an amazing experience, and all four of us loved it. Well worth it!

Wow we had a great time. Saw so many amazing sites and monuments we would have missed without participating in this activity. Bike ride was fun and made even more so riding along the water. Our guide Daniel was a real pleasure to deal with and took real good care of us. His knowledge and passion for the history of this beautiful country was evident. Thanks so much we certainly look forward to our next stay in Lisbon.

Easy flat ride through a lot of neighborhoods. The egg tart alone was worth it. Felt I learned a lot more about Lisbon and Portugal both historically and current events. My husband (who never wants to do anything with a guide) and I both had a wonderful time.

Such a great tour. Easy bike ride along cycle paths mostly. Nice coastal breeze which was welcome in the heat! Our guide Ethan was amazing and and did a great job of telling us the history behind the sights. We loved it all!

The tour was engaging and fun for everyone in the family of all ages. It was a great way explore Belem and get personal anecdotes. We really enjoyed it
