  • Rhodes Akramitis Mountain: Hike to the Top

    9. Rhodes Akramitis Mountain: Hike to the Top

After being collected by a private bus, set off for Monolithos, a beautiful rural village not spoiled by mass tourism on the west side of the island. Start your hike to the top of Akramitis mountain by walking through gradually ascending green slopes of cypress trees that overlook the bay of Apolakia. Enjoy the breathtaking views and the opportunity to take amazing photos.  After the demanding first part, hike through beautiful meadows, full of aromatic colorful herbs until you reach the chapel of St John where you can enjoy a well-deserved stop. As you reach the top of the mountain, enjoy the views of the nearby islands of Halki, Alimia, Tilos and even Karpathos, the inland of Rhodes Island, the lake of Gadouras and Apolakia On the way down, follow a different trail, between high pine trees and explore a totally undiscovered area of the island.

A good hike with tracks through forest and rough ground. Can be done in a pair of walking runners. They supply food and water but I would recommend bring a litre of water yourself. We had a great view of islands and coastline and we could see Turkey in the distance. A leisurely 5 hr walk. We saw mountain deer which was a bonus. An excellent day out in nature with a bit of exercise
