Langhe: Sunset Truffle Hunting with Tasting & Wine

1. Langhe: Sunset Truffle Hunting with Tasting & Wine

Become a truffle hunter for the evening during an exclusive sunset truffle experience. Learn all about hunting truffles and meet the locals — and their dogs — who dedicate their lives to wild truffle hunting. Sample truffles to find out what all the fuss is about and three local wines. After a warm welcome from Alberto or Gianluca, your experienced trifolau (truffle hunter) guides, and their trusty dogs, Etan, Katt, or Bull, climb into their car to be driven to the Piedmont woods, where they usually hunt for truffles. Soak in the beautiful vineyards and scenery during the drive. On arrival at the woods, get a short introduction to the history and art of truffle hunting. Discover how trifolaus train and develop such close relationships with their four-legged friends. Then, learn about different types of truffles and their symbiotic relationships with trees. After all your truffle-related questions have been answered, follow the dogs' noses through the woods in search of these elusive mushrooms. You'll know when the truffle hunting dogs have found something as they start digging at the base of a tree, rooting out the truffle with their fine-tuned noses. If you're lucky, maybe they'll unearth the most famous white truffle in the world — Tartufo Bianco d'Alba — which is only found in Piedmont, making it one of the rarest and most coveted truffles around. Enjoy watching the truffle dogs at work as the sun sets over the surrounding Italian countryside. After working up an appetite gathering truffles, it'll be time for an aperitif. Head to a local winery in Gavi to sample three of their wines, all awarded the DCOG Gavi di Gavi quality label. Tuck into truffle chips, focaccia bread, and local cheese and cured meats with black truffle grated on top. Having gained a new appreciation and understanding of truffles, be driven back to the meeting point.

Turin: Egyptian Museum Tour with Skip-the-Line Entry

8. Turin: Egyptian Museum Tour with Skip-the-Line Entry

The location of the Egyptian Museum is central to the city’s points of interest, just a few metres away is the splendid Piazza San Carlo It is located in Via Accademia delle Scienze, 6 .The Egyptian museum extends over four floors and has recently been restored, doubling the exhibition space and renovating the layout. Proof of this are the escalators that trace the ascent of the river Nile, designed by Oscar-winning set designer Dante Ferretti. The Egyptian Museum of Turin is the oldest museum in the world dedicated entirely to the culture of the Pharaohs. It all comes to life when, following Napoleon’s expedition to Egypt, all the courts of Europe show an interest in having finds and testimonies of the ancient Egyptians. France, the British Empire, the Austro-Hungarians and even the Savoy family began to send expeditions. Today the Egyptian museum in Turin represents the largest Egyptian museum in the world outside Egypt and I would add that it can be visited safely compared to the Egyptian one, declared by the same museum in Cairo “branch” connected. A two-hour visit is enough to be able to appreciate the most extraordinary finds, knowing that, as in large museums, some finds are repeated and after 2 hours attention begins to wane. Let yourself be accompanied by the guide, with confidence and serenity. Also ask the guide to take pictures with you inside the museum

Fantastic tour around Turin at night visiting places we would have walked straight past. Carolina is a local and took us around Turin like we were old friends. She was full of relaxed information about the history, food and wine of the area. My daughter and I had a great experience tasting traditional Piedmontese fare and were appreciative of the other recommendations for places to go to eat and drink for the remainder of our stay in Turin.

Carol expertly guided us around the Palace and shared so much knowledge with my adult daughter and I without making us feel overwhelmed with dates and facts. She answered all of our questions and even managed to show us some hidden spaces not available for general viewing. Definitely recommend!

Interessante scoperta del mondo Martini, esperienza da consigliare a tutti, appassionati e non! Mi raccomando di terminare la visita con un cocktail e giretto nello shop

Our guide Salvatore was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. One of the best guides we have had. We highly recommend him.

Excellent guide, very knowledgeable. Interesting museum, takes you beyond the Hollywood clichés of ancient Egyptian culture.
