Join the captain and crew and set off on a 45-minute exploratory mission through Lover's Cove, a State Marine Conservation Area sanctuary. Traverse amazing undersea gardens and ocean habitats in our custom built yellow semi-submersible submarine designed after America's first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, on a trip that is both educational and entertaining. Let your imagination descend into the depths of the ocean as you explore the magic and wonder of undersea life on the Nautilus. Venture into the ocean and through the kelp forest in a state-of-the-art vessel. Learn about what you see with the crew and research team and let them entertain you with their stories. As you learn and explore, interact with the fish through a specially designed feeding system. Launch fish food torpedoes right from your seat (at an additional cost) and instigate feeding frenzies right outside your personal porthole. You will be picked up directly from your hotel in : Long Beach, San Pedro, LAX area, Marina Del Ray, Hawthorn, or El Segundo. During the tour, you'll visit Downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles Colosseum, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Sign, Griffith Park Observatory, Sunset Plaza, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica Beach, and Venice Beach. There will be free time at each of the stops and you'll be able to get out of the tour van to take pictures, shop, and explore. For lunch, there will be an hour-long stop at Mel's Diner on Sunset Boulevard, a popular 1950s-style diner. After the tour, you'll be dropped back at your hotel between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.

As you walk onboard you'll be greeted on the quarter deck and be given a safety briefing. Appreciate Iowa’s graceful, narrow lifted bow as you look forward up the sloped deck. Stand in front of turret one to get an up-close and personal look at the barrel of a 16-inch 50 caliber Mark 7. Continue a level above the main deck and see inside the captain’s cabin. Learn about president Franklin D. Roosevelt's custom-built bathtub, the first aboard a USN vessel. It was built for his stay on board because of his inability to take showers due to polio. Next, you'll see The 03 level flag bridge. Hear about the history of the ship and how only IOWA’s 03 level conning tower was armored among the four ships of her class. As you move toward the stern on the 05 level you'll get a closer look at the replicas of the 20mm Phalanx CIWS guns. Continue along the tour route, which will lead you down to a narrow deck behind one of the 5-inch gun mounts. Take a moment to walk around the large fantail when you reach the main deck. The self-guided tour includes free use of the award-winning mobile app and the Vicky the Dog scavenger hunt. This application contains a great deal of information that will enhance your experience.
