Vicenza: Palladian Architecture Private Walking Tour

Vicenza: Palladian Architecture Private Walking Tour

The guided tour of Vicenza will make you discover one of the most beautiful towns in the Veneto linked to its most illustrious citizen Andrea Palladio, the greatest architect of the Venetian Renaissance who with his beautiful buildings was an inspiration all over the world such as for the construction of the White House in the United States. It starts from the Olympic Theater which we will visit only on the outside, the oldest stable covered theater of the modern era designed by Palladio and in the same square we can admire the splendid Chiericati Palace, also by Palladio, dating back to the 16th century; the elegant building with its characteristic staircase is embellished with large loggias on the level of the noble floor and today houses the Civic Museum with works of great artistic value. We continue along Corso Palladio, the main street that crosses Vicenza and that introduces us to its historic center, a street full of important historic buildings designed by Palladio, churches, medieval towers, shops of various types and the inevitable cafes where you can try the famous spritz and taverns with typical products of the Venetian tradition. The tour continues discovering Piazza dei Signori, the meeting point of Vicenza and the center of commercial and social power with its most characteristic buildings such as the Basilica, the Bissara Tower, the Monte di Pietà Palace, the Church of S. Vincenzo and the Captain's Palace starting from the two columns dedicated to the Serenissima, or Venice, one with the Lion of San Marco and the other with Christ the Redeemer. The most famous building dominates the square, the Palladian Basilica which is not a true religious basilica but was defined in this way by Palladio in homage to Roman antiquity because the building housed the municipal councils and was erected on the ancient Palace of Reason. We explore the Basilica externally with a marble staircase, the beautiful loggia and the green copper covering that makes it one of the symbols of the town. Next to it we admire the Bissara Tower which with its 82 meters high is visible in every part of Vicenza and always in the elegant square we find another building designed by Palladio, the Captain's Palace, from the Renaissance period decorated with columns, statues and decorations, today seat of the Town Council.

Vicenza: Vineyard Walk & Wine Tasting in the Berici Hills

Vicenza: Vineyard Walk & Wine Tasting in the Berici Hills

Experience the charm of winemaking in the picturesque Colli Berici with an immersive vineyard tour and wine tasting adventure. Located in a serene corner of Italy’s Veneto region, this winery invites you to step back in time and enjoy the fruits of its rich, historic terroir. Your visit begins with a leisurely walk among the ancient grapevines, some over a century old, that stretch across sun-drenched hills. This is where the land’s unique mineral-rich "terrarossa" soil plays a pivotal role in cultivating grapes that produce robust and flavorful wines. As you explore, you’ll learn about the diverse microclimates that shape each vineyard plot, from the warm, exposed hilltops to the cooler, sheltered valleys. After this peaceful walk, you’ll settle in for a curated tasting of four exceptional wines from the estate’s range. These include whites and reds made from both indigenous and international grape varieties, each carefully paired with local delicacies like fine cheeses, prosciutto, and other artisanal cured meats. Among the wines you might sample is Il Rocolo Chardonnay, a fresh yet complex white that benefits from oak aging, offering fruity notes with a touch of vanilla and honey. Another highlight may be the Riva Olivaro Cabernet, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carmenere, bursting with bold fruit flavors and subtle spice, perfect when paired with grilled meats and robust cheeses. You might also taste La Vigna Vecia Tocai Rosso, a light-bodied red with vibrant cherry aromas, unique to the Colli Berici. This wine, made from a historic local variety, pairs well with both fish and pasta dishes. Rounding out the experience could be La Costiera, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Tocai Rosso, known for its deep red fruit flavors and a hint of black pepper, perfect for hearty dishes like lamb and beef. This diverse selection of wines showcases the estate’s commitment to quality and sustainability. The vines, tended with eco-friendly practices, are grown without irrigation, encouraging deep root systems and allowing the grapes to develop strong, natural flavors. The aging process takes place in French oak barrels, adding further depth and complexity to each wine. As you sip and savor these wines, you’ll be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Colli Berici hills. The rolling landscape, shaped by ancient geological events, offers panoramic views and a peaceful atmosphere that makes this tasting experience unforgettable. Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply looking to enjoy a day in the Italian countryside, this tour and tasting offers a perfect blend of history, flavor, and the charm of rural life. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of the land and the winemaking tradition that has been passed down through generations Ideal for couples, families, group of friends and company outings.

What people are saying about Vicenza

Overall rating

I'm only rating this 5 stars because my cooking host, Irma, was the absolute best! She went above and beyond for me and I am so grateful to her and her husband for hosting me. The company changed the location the day before to somewhere much farther and harder for me, or anyone without a car, to get to. Even after I provided my neighborhood and the fact that I didn't have a car. I believe everything works out for a reason and I'm so thankful I got to meet Irma and her husband but I'd think twice about booking another experience through this company. Would definitely book with Irma again though!

The lake was beautiful. We were told motorized boats aren't allowed on the lake which made the trip peaceful. Our guide Michael was very knowlegable about the history of the area as well as a very enjoyable and kind person to talk to overall. He also kept the trip at a very relaxed pace which allowed my partner and I to enjoy the scenery. I highly recommend this tour to anyone.

What I liked the most was the Olympic Theatre, but the entrance was not included in the tour and I don't understand why, because it is the most important thing in Vicenza. Thanks to the guide who was charming and very professional, who called and managed everything very well for us.

A great evening with our hosts and interpreter. Very gracious and welcoming. The pasta and tiramisu were fantastic! I only wish we got a handout with the recipes, so we can try at home. Either way we learned a new skill and I finally tried grappa!. A must do if in the Vicenza area.

Very easy to book and very well priced. Had a brilliant time, great location and lovely food! Excellent tour guide as well
