Explore the impressive landscape of K’Gari island, home to the Butchulla people, with a guided two-day four-wheel-drive tour. Drive to pristine lakes, sandy dunes, and historic shipwrecks. See K’Gari, also referred to as Fraser Island, at night with an overnight camping experience. Day 1:Start your adventure with a ferry ride to the world's largest sand island and traverse the eastern beach. Head to Lake McKenzie for lunch and quality time to swim. Get cozy in the evening around a campfire, hear tales of the local area, and satiate your sweet tooth with a classic marshmallow roast.  Day 2:Launch into the second day’s activities with a dip into the Champagne Pools. Learn all about the SS Maheno shipwreck before continuing to Eli Creek, perfect for another relaxing swim before ending at Freedom Rainbow Beach.

Start your day either from the convenient meeting point in Noosa or with a courtesy pickup from select hotels. From there you will travel through the Toolara Forest and Great Sandy National Park as you make your way towards Fraser Island. Following a quick stop in Rainbow Beach, board the ferry from Inskip Point over to the island, looking out for marine life along the way. You'll then drive along the beach highway to a freshwater creek where you’ll enjoy morning tea with a view. Following that, it will be time to make your way through the inland tracks to experience a 4WD adventure. You'll journey through the forest to Lake McKenzie, a highlight for many due to the beautiful white sandy beach and perfectly blue waters. You can cool off with a swim, enjoy some wonderful photo opportunities, or relax on the beach before tucking into an authentic and healthy Aussie picnic-style lunch. Following lunch you'll walk through the ancient rainforest of Central Station and Pile Valley, which is home to many unique and interesting species. Wander alongside the crystal clear Wanggoolba Creek as you take in the sights and smells of the tallest rainforest, which is growing out of sand. It will then be time to start making your way back towards Noosa with another drive down the beach highway and a brief stopover in Rainbow Beach. Your return time to Noosa will be approximately 5:00PM.

Cruise the pristine waters of the Great Sandy Straits, including destinations such as Woody Island, North White Cliffs, Ungowa and Garry's Anchorage. Departing from the Boat Club relax and wildlife spot as we cruise through the Great Sandy Straits to the famous Gary’s Anchorage, located approximately halfway to Tin Can Bay. Enjoy a light lunch on-board as we cruise through the anchorage. Experience the beauty of the Great Sandy Marine Park & Fraser Island, this pristine area of Mangroves, Sand Cliffs and sand flats wilderness is abound with sea and birdlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous Fraser Island dingos. Learn about some of the history of early settlers and logging of this historical region. The Great Sandy Strait, from Dayman Point - Sandy Point (near Hervey Bay) to Tin Can Bay in the south, is a Ramsar wetland of international importance. It has been declared a shorebird designated area within the marine park to protect migratory shorebirds. Seabirds and shorebirds are a vibrant feature of this World Heritage area. They occupy a range of habitats, including the mouths of creeks and estuaries, rocky ocean foreshores, sand spits, and sandy beaches.

Enjoy the skipper's safety briefing and introduction to the vessel before departing. After leaving the marina, you will pass by several interesting landmarks and learn about their history from the skipper's commentary. As you near Fraser Island, while enjoying profiteroles and scones for morning tea, you will learn all about the geography of the Great Sandy Straits and start looking out for whales, dolphins, dugong, and other marine life. The beaches of Fraser Island are pristine and quite untouched and a pleasure to cruise along. The Humpback Whales call into the Bay on their southern migration and, at the beginning of the season, mainly young whales who are inquisitive and playful can be seen. Close encounters are a regular occurrence. As the season progresses mothers and calves, sometimes with a male escort or another female enter the bay to rest and grow. Calves are playful but they also need rest time and mum's can be protective and keep them away from the boats. Towards the end of the season, larger groups of males often compete for mating rights as the females become ready for some fun. These groups are often rough and charging, making noises, and it's very exciting. A delicious plated lunch is served either alongside Fraser Island or while watching whales in the protected waters. Enjoy cold meats, hot chicken wings, 3 salads, and a bread roll. Tea, coffee, and filtered water are available all day. Other drinks can be purchased over the bar. On the return journey, fruit and cheese platters are served for your enjoyment during the leisurely cruise along the island and across the straight back to the marina.

Your guide, a Fraser Island expert with local knowledge and a passion for the island, takes all the hard work out of navigating tides and terrain. Drive across sand tracks to explore beautiful, natural spots and listen to fascinating facts about the island’s history and flora and fauna in air-conditioned comfort. Keep your eye out for dingos and migrating humpback whales (July-November).   Depart Rainbow Beach at approximately 8:00 AM and travel to Inskip for the barge crossing to Hook Point on Fraser Island. On the island, check out the displays at Central Station and discover a former logging station. Stroll along the boardwalk of Wanggoolba Creek to uncover ancient king ferns before hiking through Pile Valley’s subtropical rainforest to see the island’s famous satinay trees.  Enjoy a revitalizing swim in the fresh, crystal-blue water of Lake Mckenzie. Then relax on the sandy white beaches of this picture-perfect dune lake. At Seventy-Five Mile Beach, tour the sandy highway, the “spine of Fraser Island,” running from Hook Point to Great Sandy Cape. During the journey, treat yourself to an optional scenic flight over the island.  Relax on the sandy banks of Eli Creek, wade through the shallow waters, or drift downstream on the fastest-flowing creek on the island — sure to revitalize your mind, body, and soul. Learn the intriguing history of Maheno Shipwreck, a once-proud passenger liner that was washed ashore in 1935 during a cyclone. At Lake Wabby, swim in the emerald-green window lake and explore the only example of a barrage lake on Fraser Island, after trekking across the shifting sands of Hammerstone Sandblow.  The tour concludes with departure from Fraser Island on the second day at approximately 4:30 PM, arriving back at your accommodation in Rainbow Beach between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
