Florence doesn’t need an alarm clock — it’s been greeting the dawn for centuries, and nowhere else does sunrise feel quite so steeped in history and art. When the sun edges up over the city’s tiled roofs and golden domes, Florence wakes slowly and gracefully, offering one of Europe’s most romantic morning scenes.
From riverfront reflections to hikes with hilltop views fit for a Medici, these sunrise spots in Florence are perfect for early risers, shutterbugs, and anyone who wants to see the city in a whole new light.
1. Piazzale Michelangelo

Florence is the cultural heart of Italy, so it’s no wonder that millions of people visit every year. Despite its well-deserved popularity, there are plenty of ways to avoid crowds in Florence while still experiencing the Tuscan capital’s artistic allure.

Wandering the stone-paved streets and spacious piazzas of Florence (Firenze) will eventually lead you to the Arno River, flowing through the middle of town. What people are saying about Florence
Overall rating
We had a lovely time learning to make tiramisu and from scratch pasta! We legitimately use the methods learned almost every weekend! We met some wonderful people from various places and got to sit down and have a meal and great conversation with them. 10/10 would recommend!
It’s an amazing tour, totally worth it! Our tour was mixed (Spanish/English), and Flavia, our guide, was fantastic—always attentive to both groups. Our driver, Salvatore, was excellent as well. Thank you for everything; we had a great time on your tour!
I wanted an experience where I could meet new people and enjoy a warm welcoming environment while eating good food, and that's what I experienced. Lovely atmosphere. Filipe, our instructor was great! Would recommend for solo travellers and groups alike.
We had a great time on this tour! Enjoyed walking around and learning about different local dishes. We liked it that the guide took us to really local places that have been around for many years. Thanks for the tour, Anna!
Hospitality and patience with the participants. Excellent family opportunity!
