Admire the arcaded balconies, and discover unique frescoes by one of the most famous painters of the Bulgarian National Revival period. See the gilded iconostasis and enjoy the fabulous mountain views. Hear the story of the monastery from your guide before enjoying some time to explore the monastic complex on your own. Learn more at the museum, or purchase souvenir icons and other items in the nearby shops. Take some time to refuel with lunch at one of the local restaurants, where you can purchase local dishes such as mekitsi (a traditional Bulgarian dish of kneaded dough made with yogurt that is deep-fried). * The tour is not recommendable to children less than 6 years old. * Kindly note that on some days we MAY stop at Boyana Church even if it is not included in your tour. Excellent service, punctuality and quality of transport. Guide Simone prepared and moderately friendly. We participated in 14 people between adults and children and for our needs we opted for the option without a Guide inside the monastery. The guide emphasized several times that we had not chosen it and at the end of the tour at the Boyana church he left us aside making us enter last and not giving us an explanation of the outside part either. Furthermore, the link for the audio guide app only worked in English and not in Italian.

Impeccable experience! Beautiful places visited, Simeon the guide spoke very good Italian and in addition to being very knowledgeable he was really helpful and friendly. The bus driver was great at driving.

Guide was very good. Clear instructions and explained about the sights and Bulgaria well. Boyana church and Rila were outstanding

Amazing guide named Micheal gave us so much information about the monetary and the surrounding area. Very friendly and very safe!

Nice Trip! Beautiful places and guide (Simon was amazing!)
