Akumal, meaning "Place of the Turtles" in the Mayan language, is a sanctuary and protected area for sea turtles. We'll take you on a privileged journey to meet green turtles, tropical fish, coral reefs, and with luck, more marine life such as rays, squids, and barracudas. Our tour in the water is approximately one hour and ten minutes in which at all times you will be accompanied by the local guide who will be there to assist you at any time in case you need it. it is important to know that the bay of akumal is a shallow area and the swim starts from the shore of the beach which makes it accessible for anyone to enjoy this activity. in case of bad sea conditions we will contact you to reschedule the activity or cancel it in case we don't have another day available.

The tours in Rio Secreto are organized so that no two tours happening at the same time will meet underground. After approximately 1.5 hours you will be taken back to ground level and treated to a light lunch of delicious local food. Choose the green salsa if your taste buds like it hot! This is a chance for you to relax in the serene jungle habitat and reflect upon your experience in the caves. After this, you may wash and change before being transported back to your hotel.
