Singapore: Historical Bike Tour with Traditional Snacks

6. Singapore: Historical Bike Tour with Traditional Snacks

Discover the real Singapore on this 20-kilometer route through the city by bike. Visit a typical residential town and market to watch people go about their daily lives. Eat like a Singaporean, sampling local snacks and drinks at a “coffee shop”. See old and new public housing, as well as multi-million dollar riverfront homes.   Then, meander alongside the Singapore River, where trade brought to life a sleepy village town in the 1800s. See historically important landmarks, such as the 100-year-old fire station, museums, and places of worship. Of course, you’ll pay homage to the statue of Sir Stamford Thomas Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore.   Learn how WWII affected Singapore, and see monuments that honor those who suffered. You’ll get to understand the melting pot of people from all over the world who call Singapore home.   Finally, fast forward to the present and admire the ultra-modern business district. Jump right into the action as you cycle right along the Formula 1 route (though at a somewhat slower pace).

Planning Your Visit

  • Best time to go?

The Singapore Flyer is open until 10pm, and Singapore is an incredible city to see at night! From sunset onwards the city is at its most striking, yet the Flyer gets considerably less busy, perhaps because the downside is not being able to see as far.

  • How long does it take?

Each rotation takes 30 minutes, although you should plan to spend at least an hour at the attraction, if not longer.

  • Booking tickets

Tickets can be bought on-site, but online discounts are available if you decide to book in advance.

  • Where to park?

The Singapore Flyer has its own parking lot. It costs $1.50 per half-hour, but this is capped at $15 on weekdays.

Good to know

  • When should I visit?
8:30AM to 10:30PM. Last entry is at 10:15PM.
  • Is it expensive?
    An adult ticket is S$33.
  • Will I need a guide?
It will definitely help. A tour could be a worthwhile investment to get the best out of the trip!
  • How to get there
The MRT station Promenade (on the CC4 and Circle lines) is a five-minute walk from the Flyer. Alternatively, catch buses 106, 111, and 133 - get off at Temasek Avenue.
  • Additional information
*Going in the evening will give you great sunset views over the city.

The tour was the highlight of our stay in Singapore. Our guide Alfie did a great job, telling us everything about the city and sharing fun facts. We not only saw the sights, but also houses and places we probably would gave missed otherwise. He also encouraged the communication within the group. The ride itself was relaxed and we also made a little break to try local food and drinks.

Great experience, beautiful view over the city and enough time to look at everything in peace. At the moment you can drive around once with the ticket, the journey takes about 30 minutes.

I can only recommend it !!! Very good guide !!! It was a lot of fun to see Singapore differently
