Depart the City for Cu Chi Tunnels, just 60 kilometers. Cu Chi is now considered a heroic district for its role in the anti-American war in Vietnam. It is legendary for its 220 kilometer-long tunnel system and is a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreigners to visit. The peacefully rural rice paddy scenery is home to ducks and water buffalos swimming in the rivers along the side of road. You will find it hard to imagine the destruction and damage all over the area caused by bombing and mines when Cu Chi was a "Free Target Zone." After a 40-minute drive, you will reach the Binh Khanh Ferry from where you will depart to Can Gio by boat. On day 1, start your day with an 8:30 AM pick-up from your centrally located hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Then head to the city of My Tho by bus. We made the tour with our guide Tu. He's a very cheerful person, was always open to our questions and shared so many interesting facts about Vietnamese culture with us. I loved how diverse the tour was with its many different activities, food and even some crafts presentations. Maybe the condition of the bicycles could have been a little better (the brakes didn't work properly and the saddles weren't really adjusted), but that's just a minor point. The kayaking part was all the more entertaining. :)

I arrived in Ho Chi Mihn City with a bad case of food poisoning. I spent two of my three days in the city recovering, so on the last day I decided to book this tour to make the most of my final day in the city. Mario was a great tour guide and I really got a great bang for my buck and time on this tour. There are some parts that feel a little touristy and cheesy, but overall it's a fun experience and I learned a lot.
