The Danube Delta is the only delta in the world fully declared a Biosphere Reserve, being included in the UNESCO Universal Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The only city in the Danube Delta, Sulina, which has a port on both the Danube and the Black Sea, is located at the lowest altitude in Romania and is also the sunniest territory of our country. It was a typical Roman fortress, with a rectangular shape, four towers at each corner, and a gate in the middle of each wall.
