Muscat: Private City Highlights Tour with Transfer

7. Muscat: Private City Highlights Tour with Transfer

A sightseeing tour around Muscat, the capital of Oman, is a great chance to soak up the Arabic atmosphere and explore the city where the ancient architecture and monuments are combined with the modern life. The first sight on the tour is Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque which is truly a masterpiece of the world architecture. It took 6 years to erect it and in 2001 it was successfully opened. This mosque is a traditional light Islamic building made from sandstone and marble. It has got 5 minarets – one main and 4 side minarets which create a special distinctive look. The internal design is rich in mosaics, huge handmade Persian carpets and chandeliers decorated with crystals. Our next stop is the Royal Opera House – the pearl of the Oman musical and stage art. The third sight we can’t avoid seeing is Muttrah Souq – the market located right at the banks of the Gulf of Oman. That’s an ideal place if you want to have a look at the ordinary life of Oman. Just go along the rows, look for the items, bargain and have fun as here you can find everything starting from spices finishing traditional rugs, vases or just souvenirs. Having seen the market, we should also look at the Mutrah fort. The fort leads its history at 1580s when the Portuguese had built it. It served as a military defense from the rivals in the past, but today it’s open for tourists. Next thing in Muscat to see is a well-known Al Alam Palace — the residence of Sultan Qaboos. From both sides the forts surround the palace, so you’ll likely enjoy the magnificent scenery. Located in the center of the city, it always attracts a lot of visitors and, although, people are not allowed to go in, they can easily go around and take cool photos.

If you are watching this review, trust me and please try best to arrange your Nizwa trip to Friday for joining this guided tour.(Since it Specialised for Friday Morning Market). You won’t be regret for your lifetime. Abudullah, the real Omani tour guide, he is the best guide I have ever met. Friendly, knowledgeable and has the decent English, you can know Oman’s culture and lifestyle very well by following a local master’s footsteps. I am very lucky to join this tour rather than the audio guided one. Thanks god. The morning market is absolutely a sugar of Nizwa, imagining serval hundred years activity is displayed before you, what a magical moment. The old village museum is also a must visit point, many interactive events is shown before you and let you riding on the Time Machine. The relics and terrain is also great to visit. This is a super cool stuff to immerse yourself to the Arabian world. This tour is absolutely a hidden gem of Oman!

We had an excellent outing to Wadi Shab with our guide Ilyas. We enjoyed the hike in the natural beauty in 1.5hr outside of the city in the mountainous region, we had a refreshing swim in freshwater pools, we admired amazing canyons and explored a waterfall. We had very nice local lunch as a group, we all chatter away exchanging our experience. Finally we visited the salt water sinkhole some swam some admired the beauty. It was a great day - door to door service, well organized, very professional we would do it again in a heartbeat!

The trip was amazing definitely book it! Our guide was incredible, so patient and helpful. Also definitely bring water shoes and a water proof bag for your camera - or tell your guide you don’t have them and he will stop at a little store that sells them for a reasonable price. Great for solo travelers too - absolutely recommend.

A really fun but full-on day out. The Wadi is simply breathtaking, and should not be missed. Abdalla, our tour guide, was kind, informative, and always provided ample bottled water. He even swam all the way with us up the Wadi and supported those who were struggling in the water!

Our Guides were knowledgeable, efficient, and kind. Nizwa fort an amazing view! Highly recommended.
