You get a nice but small insight into the indigenous population of Zinacantán and Chamula. In Zinacantán you can watch the weavers at work and try homemade food. I was allowed to try on the traditional everyday clothing once. However, it is also a sales event. In Chamula you walk to the church, where the interesting shamanic rituals are mixed with the worship of Catholic saints. Our guide was able to answer many questions about the life of the indigenous groups. However, I would have liked more information.

The pick-up and transport was very pleasant. The driver spoke only Spanish and took us to two viewpoints above the canyon. We then drove to the jetty and got into a boat with another group of tourists. The boat driver explained details about the canyon and the animals in Spanish. There was enough time to take photos of the beautiful motifs. Chiapa de Corzo was not worth it in my opinion, but there are plenty of restaurants.

This was an excellent introduction to 2 gems near Tuxtla Gutierrez: Chiapa de Corzo and Sumidero Canyon. I thought that it would be inappropriate to leave Tuxtla without seeing these two. I was picked up at the right time at my place and returned to the exact same spot, never having to make an extra step during the day. Highly recommended.
