Warnemünde

Board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and take a relaxing journey through the picturesque flatlands of East Germany. Arrive in Berlin and meet your professional English-speaking tour guide. Begin the tour in West Berlin at the Charlottenburg Palace. Stretch your legs as your knowledgeable local guide gives you an introduction to the city. Then, drive through the former British sector along Berlin’s Champs-Élysées - the Kurfürstendamm, past the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the KaDeWe, the largest department store in continental Europe. Next, head to East Berlin - visiting the impressive parliament building, the Reichstag - on the way. Stroll through the famous Brandenburg Gate and nearby Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Admire the Tiergarten central park, the Victory Column, a Soviet memorial, the Memorial to the Murdered Sinti and Roma as well as the Paris Square. Continue on to the site of Hitler’s bunker, through Potsdamer Platz to one of the few remaining pieces of the Berlin Wall before reaching the former site of the Headquarters of the SS and Gestapo, today known as the Topography of Terror. Next is your chance to pass through Checkpoint Charlie – the most famous crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War - and visit the former US sector. After some free time for lunch (not included in the tour price), continue the tour through the former Soviet sector of East Berlin to visit the spectacular Gendarmenmarkt and Bebelplatz – famous for being the ‘Nazi Book Burning Square’. Visit Berlin’s historic former Royal Quarter – the beautiful boulevard of Unter den Linden, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral, and Alexanderplatz with its iconic TV Tower. Time permitting, your tour guide might drive past the longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall with its world-famous graffiti – the East Side Gallery or stop in the former Jewish Quarter, which has recently become the fashion and art center of the German capital. At the end of your Berlin tour, say goodbye to your tour guide, and be whisked off in comfort back to your cruise ship.

Embark on a relaxing cruise on the Baltic Sea aboard a modern catamaran with your own skipper. Take in stunning views of the seascape and picturesque towns along coastline as you spend your day at sea, or choose to cruise at sundown for an unforgettable sunset experience. The catamaran is waiting for you in the modern marina "Yachthafen Hohe Düne". Onboard, the skipper welcomes you and gives you a quick introduction to the boat as well as a safety briefing. Then, head out to sea and if you are interested, you can help the skipper to manoeuvre the catamaran. Or you lean back, relax and enjoy the wind, the water and the fantastic atmosphere on the sea. Depending on the sea and wind conditions the catamaran travels in the direction of Kühlungsborn, Darß or down the Warnow to the city centre of Rostock, passing Warnemünde, the cruise liners and more. With good weather conditions there are also possibilities to drop the anchor for you to jump in for a quick swim. The marina has a lot of parking possibilities and good connection to public transport. Furthermore you will find nice restaurants, very good sanitary facilities and a beautiful beach right by the marina.

Benefit from pick-up at the cruise ship terminal in Warnemuende, and then embark on a guided walking tour of the former fishing village. See the typical gabled houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, complete with half-timbered façades and ornamental doors. Admire the Old Stream canal lined with brightly-painted boats and quaint cafés. After this brief introduction to the seaside resort you may consider to return here after the end of the tour to browse the boutiques or try a piece of cake or a typical fish sandwich. Ride the commuter train and tram to Rostock to explore the largest city of Mecklenburg. Stroll the streets of the Hanseatic university town and visit the lively market squares. Admire buildings such as the medieval monastery of the Monastery of the Holy Cross and the church of St. Marien. Benefit from some leisure in the central square to browse the shops or enjoy a tasty snack. Learn more about the Rostocks past and present at the town hall or the university and the medieval town wall. Return to the port by public transportation.

To begin, you will arrive at the modern "Yachthafen Hohe Dune" marina, where the skipper will welcome you on board and give you a quick introduction to the boat. If you'd like, you're invited to assist the skipper in setting sail and steering the boat. Otherwise, just relax and enjoy the wind, water, and waves while out on the high seas. Travel in the direction of Kühlungsborn and Darß, or down the Warnow to the center of Rostock, where you will pass Warnemunde, the cruise liners, and more. After several hours at sea, the yacht will return to the harbor, where you will find several restaurants, bathroom facilities, and a beautiful beach right in the marina.

Explore Warnemünde on a walking tour with a local guide. Get to know the culture and traditions of the seaside resort, and pass all of its important sights as you stroll along charming alleys lined with old fishermen's houses. After meeting your guide, set off on your walking tour. Learn about the history of the small fishing village of Warnemünde, and find out how the local fishermen used to lure their beloved catch. During the tour, admire the local bridge, Bannhofsbrücke, and the old river. Pass by the Edvard Munch House, and see Warnemünde Lighthouse and the Teepott along the promenade. Timed to your arrival in the port of Rostock, your day trip to Berlin begins shortly after your arrival with pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. Head straight to Berlin to see the vivacious city’s most stunning sights. Learn firsthand of the atrocities carried out under Nazi rule as you tour the well-preserved concentration camp. Afterwards, you’ll be whisked back to your cruise ship, in perfect time for your departure.
