Things to do in Biograd na Moru

The traditional wooden boat Nenad takes you on a full-day cruise to the most indented part of the Mediterranean with 150 islands and islets on 320 hectares, the vast majority of which are in the protected area of the National Park—sailing along the stone lighthouse of Vela Sestrica from 1876. under the cliffs on the south side of Telašćica. The excursion continues by sailing into the Telašćica Nature Park where lunch on the boat will take place. Telašćica is a natural continuation of Kornati, the largest and safest bay on the Adriatic, where you can swim in the bay itself or in Salt Lake, which also has medicinal properties due to its very high salinity. Walking, it is possible to visit the viewpoint above the 150-meter cliffs that plunge into the open sea in the south of Dugi Otok.

A Dalmatian fishing island that preserves the traditional car-free way of life. Walk through the streets without the noise and hustle and bustle of the city as time seems to stand still. For the rest of the day, enjoy the sun, the sea, and the sounds of crickets on the most beautiful sandy beach of the island, surrounded by greenery and immersed in bright and transparent blue. The boat trip begins with the departure from the waterfront, and then we sail towards the southern side of the island of Pašman, where we pass by the islet of Košara, where there is a chance of seeing dolphins. After that, we sail towards Vrgada and dock in the old village, and then you can go for a walk around the village and go swimming on one of the most beautiful beaches on this part of the Adriatic Sea. After free time on the island of Vrgada, lunch will be served on the boat, followed by sailing back to Biograd na Moru.

You will learn all about olive oil and how taste it as well as eat local food and taste award winning local wine. The tour is in three parts: 1. Tour of our olive mill, gold award winning olive oil and wine tasting and a delicious by cold buffet meal drizzled in oil and accompanied by wine. 3. Our Olive Oil Mill – Olive Oil, Wine and Food: The core of our tour is Part 2, the experience of traditional and contemporary olive oil production methods at our family-owned mills. At the mills you will learn about local olive oil and wine tasting and participate in a comparative tasting session and understand how exceptional olive oils are created. Our award winning olive oil (gold and silver in the New York and Berlin International Olive Oil Council Awards over the last three years). We teach you professional techniques to discern the subtle notes and characteristics that distinguish a superb oil from the ordinary including the taste and health benefits of our exceptionally high polyphenols. You’ll become adept at identifying the hallmarks of excellence, from the initial aroma to the lingering finish. And you'll learn the health benefits of olive oil and and the Mediterranean diet and the science behind how its helps extend and improve quality of life as you age. The time at our mill includes tasting a sample fantastic local varieties of Croatian wines produced in one of the villages close to our mill. Gold ward winning wines demonstrating the progress being made by local Croatian wine makers. The mill visit concludes with a cold buffet meal. Embark on an unforgettable full-day tour, starting with the morning including a beautiful ride in airconditioned bus from Šibenik along the coast and through the hinterland to Skradin and Krka National Park. The afternoon includes olive oil, wine and culinary tasting, a tour of our family owned olive mill and finishes with spectacular views from Kamenjak over the Kornati archipelago as the sun goes down. This full-day tour starts with a drive through the beautiful coastal and hinterland scenery from Šibenik to the medieval town of Skradin where you'll learn about the region's rich and turbulent history. After a wander around Skradin, we continue to Krka National Park to explore stunning waterfalls (Skradinski Buk), clear turquoise waters and diverse wildlife. You will experience the mesmerizing beauty of cascading waterfalls and lush landscapes. Skradinski Buk, with its multi-tiered waterfall and emerald pools, is a sight to behold. In the afternoon, we continue on to our family owned olive mill for an olive oil and culinary tasting including tasting tuition and fine local wine, paired with traditional Dalmatian dishes. After the morning Krka adventure, a bus will transport you to a local olive mill, where you’ll indulge in a guided olive oil tasting. During the olive oil tasting, you'll learn how to identify the finest quality oils by comparing different varieties, focusing on flavour, aroma, and texture. Discover the oils with the highest polyphenols, known for their powerful health benefits, as you gain insights into the techniques used to produce and distinguish premium olive oils. Wine tasting follows where you will discover the rich flavours of the finest, gold award winning, locally produced red and while wines olive oils, accompanied by a culinary tasting experience featuring traditional Dalmatian dishes prepared with the finest local ingredients. Your journey continues with a stop off at the historic Benkovac Castle, where you'll dive into the region’s turbulent past. Learn about the ancient conflicts and conquests that shaped the history of Dalmatia as you explore the castle's historic grounds and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. 08:00 – Departure from the port Biograd (optionally Pakoštane and Drage) : With a welcome drink, meet our boat and crew from the Vrgada Fishing Cooperative, the oldest cooperative of its kind on the Croatian islands, with a rich tradition dating back to 1909. * 08:00 – 09:00 – Preparing the longline: During a panoramic cruise, with interesting stories about the tradition of fishing and wooden boats, participate in the preparation of a traditional fishing tool - the longline. * 09:00 – 09:30 – Setting the longline: Together with our experienced fishermen, lower the longline into the sea. Discover the secrets of this old but extremely effective fishing tool. * 09:30 – 10:30 – Anchoring in Kranje Bay: While the longline does its job, relax in the beautiful Kranje Bay. Enjoy swimming or try your hand at fishing with a rod. * 10:30 – 10:50 – Raising the longline: The excitement grows as we pull up the longline together and sort the catch. * 10:50 – 11:30 – Visiting the fish farm and searching for dolphins: We enter the world of underwater fish farming and go in search of friendly dolphins that often inhabit this area. * 11:45 – 13:00 – Island of Vrgada or Podbrizi beach: Use your free time to explore the traditional fishing village of Vrgada or relax on the beautiful Podbrizi beach. * 13:00 – 14:00 – Lunch: Enjoy a delicious, traditional fish dish prepared with freshly caught fish. * 14:15 – 15:00 – Return to the port: Relax during a panoramic ride through the Vrgada Sea and Pašman Channel and take home unforgettable memories. You will try four wines characteristic of the area with unique attributes and learn the ancestral secret of the Zinfandel and Primitivo wines while also getting a sense of the 2000-year-old history of olive oil and wine making in a unique ambiance of a 16th-century Turkish armoury. Upon arrival, we will talk about history with a tour of the estate, olive garden, and vineyard. After that, we start tasting wine and olive oil with homemade prosciutto, cheese, and homemade bread. At the end of the excursion, the driver returns the guests to the Biograd na Moru.
