In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel/coffee shop, and we will go to Uxmal, there you will learn about this Majestic Mayan city while you enjoy, take photos, and explore. Then we will visit Kabah. While Kabah’s archaeological zone isn’t as grand or extensive as Uxmal's, it has a few unique features that make it well worth visiting. Kabah is particularly important because it is considered the last great Mayan city. On our last stop, we will go to the Peba cenote, where you will enjoy, swim, and relax in this small cenote with crystal waters. Upon returning we will take you to Santa Lucia's Park, one of the city's most iconic and central places where you can find restaurants, bars, and shops or we can drop you off at the same spot we pick you up.

Start the tour by meeting on Plaza Grande, the heart of the city of Mérida. Enjoy a small-group tour of no more than ten people with an expert local guide. You start your activity by having a walk through Merida’s Downtown. Your guide will give a quick briefing on the most important buildings overlooking the Main Square, and then walk with you to one of the main markets of Merida, Lucas de Galvez. Your guide will talk in depth about the regional fruits and vegetables, as well as the recados, the achiote, the peppers in general and especially the chile habanero and xcatic. All of this while shopping for everything you need for your traditional family lunch. Once you have everything, take a public bus with your guide to the local hostess’s home for the cooking class. Yucatecan cuisine has one of the most varied arrays of delicious dishes amongst the 32 states of Mexico. Some of them are unique to the Yucatan and very hard to find outside of the peninsula, while others are eaten throughout the country. The influence of ancient Mayans, Spaniards, French and Lebanese are specially noted in the cuisine. While you cook, chop, fry, and get the dishes ready, your hostess and guide will explain some of the local traditions, the influence of other cultures in Yucatan and the differences between the Yucatecos and the people from other parts of Mexico. You will also learn some Spanish and Mayan words while tasting the delicious dishes prepared by yourself! You will enjoy a three course meal, including appetizers, main course and dessert. Beer and soft drinks like hibiscus flower tea, or chaya water are included. Please advise in advance if you are vegan or vegetarian, because there are many dishes you will enjoy! Your experience with Yucatecan cuisine comes to an end after a long chat with your host, and its time to say good bye to your new friends. Your guide will take you in a cab back to Downtown. 

Nestled in the Yucatan Peninsula, just 45 minutes from the city of Merida, surrounded by henequen fields and lush vegetation, lies Sotuta de Peón Hacienda Viva. Built in the mid-nineteenth century, it began operating in 1858 and after 100 years of prosperity, resulting from its original sisal production vocation, it was abandoned for three long decades, to be later rescued from the ravages of time and become a loving restoration project that, through years of unwavering dedication, perseverance and passion for detail, gave life to the current Sotuta de Peón Hacienda Viva, completely restored, working as it did in its heyday and rescuing the traditions of the henequen boom. Hacienda Sotuta de Peón offers you a wide range of cultural, historical, touristic, gastronomic, and lodging experiences in natural landscapes that will remain imprinted on your minds and hearts for a long time. When walking through Sotuta de Peón, you will travel back in time, aboard wooden platforms called "Trucks" which are pulled by mules on Decauville rails, just as the workers originally used them. During the Sisal tours, you'll witness each step of the transformation process of Henequen (also called “Green Gold” in this region), from the plant to the fiber, and then, from the fiber to the finished product. You'll also have the chance to see ancient machinery that has been rebuilt to its precise operational capacity. Your tour will also include a visit to a typical Mayan House. And add to this the unique geological formations of the secret attractions, the cenotes, beautiful underground, freshwater rivers, with crystal clear and highly coveted alkaline waters. Take a refreshing dip at the end of your ride, where you can safely swim in the refreshing waters of cenote “Dzul- Ha” (Lord of the water). Or, if you prefer, we have a huge swimming pool, surrounded by lush gardens of tropical flowers and spectacular green native trees and plants.

In the morning we will pick you up and drive you and the group to the Acanceh zone, where you will learn about this Mayan town while enjoying and exploring with free time. Then we will visit Santa Barbara where you can put your swimsuit on and get ready for the adventure. You will have to decide between taking a bike to go to the 4 cenotes or taking the truck (cart pulled by mules). You will have time to spend in each of the cenotes, everyone is unique and fantastic. You can relax, explore, and take pictures!! When you are ready you will have time to eat lunch in the restaurant that is in the same place!
