  • Mount Etna: Cable Car, Jeep, & Hiking Tour to Summit

    1. Mount Etna: Cable Car, Jeep, & Hiking Tour to Summit

Ascend to the summit of the craters of Mount Etna, one of the most coveted excursions a hiker can make. Hike in full safety with an authorized alpine and volcano guide, and marvel at the beauty and wonder of the highest active volcano in Europe.   Depart from Sapienza Refuge in Nicolosi, and ascend 2,504 meters by cable car. Then, ride in a 4x4 Jeep up to 2,900 meters, to begin your hike. You’ll hike 1.5 hours uphill, passing many craters and taking long pauses to take pictures and rest.

Experience the incredible feeling of being on top of the world in this rocky, beautiful landscape with the giant sky above you. After reaching the summit, descend for 2 hours back to the cable car, which will take you to your departure point.

Unfortunately due to volcanic activity it wasnt allowed to hike to the summit. We got messaged about this a day in advance with an offer for an alternative past previous lava flows and craters, which we took. It still was a beautifull experience with a very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable, multi lingual guide. We didn't get to take the 4x4 bus because we were hiking on a lowere altidtude but got that refunded through get your guide.

I absolutely loved the tour! Our guide was super friendly, had great (English) communication skills and was very informative. As we needed to do a covid test (for our flight back home) in the early morning before the tour (pick-up 8.15/8.30h), our guide suggested we could come over to their second stop (to buy lunch before the tour) at 9.30h. We just made it with a taxi! The guide bought our lunch, because we payed for the taxi. Which was very kind of him! Also he has knowledge about (medicine) plants. This was awesome!

Great tour to see Mount Etna! Our tour guide Andreas was great and very insightful, he answered all our questions and told us many things along the way. Definitely bring something warm to wear. We went mid August and it was about 17 degrees and windy, a lot of people had to buy sweaters in the end, especially if you plan on taking the funicular higher up. The tour of the bee farm was also nice but definitely not the highlight of the trip.

We had a perfect day with Salvo (Salvatore) who was such a friendly and funny guide which a huge knowledge of Etna and its surroundings. We booked the cable car tour to the Etna which costs additional 67 Euros but its very much worth the money, would highly recommend! We also went into a Lava cave and a local Wine, Honey and Olive Oil producer where you can buy these items if you like to. Last stop was Taormina which is one of the most beautiful cities. The ride between these locations was very informative because Salvo is such a passionate Sicilian who really enjoyed our whole group of 8 people from all over the world. Can definitely recommend to book this tour! Thank you Salvo for this great day :-) Greetings from (cold) Duesseldorf!

We really enjoyed the tour! The guides have a lot of information to share about Etna and they speak multiple languages. We stopped off at a few different important sites for an explanation and the chance to take photos. The tour included tasting some local wine, olive oils, and honey which was delicious and we bought some to take home. The tour ended with an impressive view from 2000 metres before heading back to Catania. It really feels like nowhere on Earth!

We were lucky enough to witness an eruption of etna during this day which made it fantastic. The route proposed by the guide was clear and accessible to all. Our guide Eduardo was really wonderful with all his explanations that accompanied the excursion
