From Kathmandu: 5-Day Gosaikunda Lake Trek

The 5-Day Gosaikunda Trek is designed for travelers desiring a short but intense adventure from Kathmandu. While the trek is offered throughout the year, it's best enjoyed when the skies are predominantly clear and the views are spectacular. Detailed itinerary: Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche and trek to Deurali (2790 m) The first day of your trip begins with a pick up from your hotel in Kathmandu. You will then be driven to a nearby bus stop for a scenic drive to Dhunche. The journey might take approximately 5-6 hours. Dhunche is a town and is marked as the starting point of your trek. During the drive, you get to see amazing views of lush green hills, terraced fields, and snow-capped mountains including Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang among others. After a short break in Dhunche, the hike begins with a brisk walk towards Deurali (2-hour). A guest house in Deurali will then be your halt for the night. Day 2: Trek to Laurebina (3910m) Day two of your trek begins with your morning breakfast and a brief about your day from your guide. We then begin the hike towards Laurebina via Chandanbari. It is an ascend following a steep path. A guest house in Laurebina will later be your halt for the night. Day 3: Round trip to Gosaikunda from Laurebina (Max Altitude: 4380 m) Day three, as usual, begins with your morning breakfast and a brief about your day from your guide. The hike then moves towards Gosainkunda, an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in Langtang National Park located at an elevation of 4380. The lake melts to feed river Trishuli as it remains frozen during the winter. Here you will be exploring other lakes in the region as well including Bhairav Kunda, Chandra Kunda and Saraswati Kunda. The travelers here will also enjoy a majestic view of the Langtang range in the background. Later in the afternoon you will hike back to Laurebina for your night halt. Day 4: Trek down to Dhunche On day four, the trail gradually descends through beautiful rhododendrons, pine & bamboo forests that lead you to Deurali. Early in the morning we travel by car / van or tourist bus to rafting starting point than we will meet our raft crow. The leader of the raft of the will give short briefing on safety procedure. within half day we encounter several big-small rapids but the main interesting one is after Majhimtar which is just before the “upset “rapid and according to the Colorado River rating scale, this rapid has been rated from 3 to 4 . All tricky rapids bear Nepali name as well as common names, which will be told by the rafter. Lunch will be served on the beach of the river just before going through he Upset rapids. Shortly after lunch we will encounter small & big rapids. Arriving at the put-out point and then transferred to Chitwan National Park, Pokhara & back to Kathmandu.

A spectacular trip, an amazing guide with great knowledge of the paths. One of my best trips ever, exploring the country and its culture. A unique place with old history as well as wildlife and unique views. Accommodation selection was well done and every aspect of the trip left a once in a lifetime experience.
