Things to do in Breivikeidet

The tour departs from the city center of Tromsø from where you will head out on a scenic 50-minute bus transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet. Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. We will provide you with thermal suits, boots, hats and mittens before heading out on our dogsledding adventure. Your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled. After listening carefully to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, you will enjoy driving on the open fields and inside the forest trails with the mountains of the Lyngen Alps as your backdrop. Two people will share one sled: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger, and you will get the chance to swap places halfway through the tour. This will provide everyone with the opportunity to experience the life of a dog musher and to take all the photographs they want while being a passenger. After your dog sledding ride and arriving back at the camp, you are invited into our lavvu (indigenous Sami tent), where you can enjoy a hot drink and cake around the campfire. Once you changed back to your normal clothes, and waved one last goodbye to the huskies, it is time to board back the bus to Tromsø.

Before meeting your team of huskies, your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of steering the sled. Note that this tour offers a short dog sled ride: you will get the chance to drive your dog sled in a slow and comfortable pace for about 10-15 minutes depending on the sledding conditions. Halfway through the tour your guide will make a stop to take photos of you being a dog musher before you switch places with your passenger on the sled. Once done with taking the photos, you will start sledding back to camp for another 10-15 minutes. After the dog sled ride, you’ll get the chance to strengthen your bond with the huskies: you can give and receive all the cuddles you can handle. After your visit to the dog yard, you are invited to the warm comforts of our panorama restaurant where you can learn a lot more about the dogs from our knowledgeable guides over some hot drinks and cake. When you change back to your own clothes and wave one last goodbye to the huskies, you’ll be driven back to the city by bus with an experience of a lifetime behind you and spectacular photos to show for it!
