What people are saying about Nelson, New Zealand
Overall rating
A fantastic day afloat with some really good sailing in the afternoon. Skipper Marco and first mate Hannah were great hosts for the day and ensured everyone had a great view of the Able Tasman park from the sea along with closeup with seals and native birds at Adele Island. The tours also takes in the iconic Split Rock and today with the very high tide we even had an up river sojourn into Torrent bay. Good lunch at the gorgeous Anchorage with pristine white sand and crystal clear water for swimming. For sailors like us this was a great trip to enjoy sailing in this beautiful part of the world.
The weather was good and the coast along Abel Tasman Park is beautiful. On the way there was the opportunity to swim and have lunch on the beach. We found the number of passengers on board less. With 36 people it was a ‘fight’ to get a place outside. And the food and drinks were not extensive. You could get tea and coffee (and a biscuit) but you had to buy water or soft drinks. For €150,— per person we expect a bit more.
Such a fantastic way to experience Abel Tasman, our guide Claudia was great and the sailboat ride was fantastic. I recommend getting lined up to board early so you can get one of the seats out front for the best experience. The hike from the beach our boat dropped us off at back to our car was a moderate hike with a few steep sections, well marked and with multiple beaches to stop at on the way!
Loved being on the boat, and seeing Inky sail with good wind! He does a great job. Answered everyone’s questions too. Great day. Lunch (wrap) was ok…too much cabbage/salad stuff in it. But enjoyable.
Modern, comfortable boat. Excellent crew. Beautiful cruise. And even on a day when there was no wind and we couldn't sail we had a great time.
